"Off the Grid"?

So today I went and test drove an 07 2dr Rubicon. On the doors are decals that say "Jeep presents Warren Miller's Off the Grid". According to the sales guy it came from the factory like that.

So I came home and started googling for information about it and came up with precisely nothing other than that Warren Miller made a movie called "Off the Grid".

Does anyone have any idea if this is some sort of special edition? Or did the previous owner's just put decals on it?

Thanks in advance.

There's nothing official like that from Chrysler, however some dealers create their own special editions. I've heard of a Rocky Mountain edition and a Renegade edition that have come from dealers.

The Tomb Raider Jeep was an official special edition just like the Sahara Rubicon.

Our local dealers are making what they call "Shawnee Editions" they add leather seats and a tire cover, wheels and tires and jack up the price by probably $5k..... As long as you don't pay extra for it, don't worry about it. In reality it doesn't increase the value of the Jeep to anyone except the person who wants that stuff.

Yeah, it's actually below book retail. I was just more curious what it meant, if anything. Having a vehicle with a cool story is always nice.

Seems like Warren Miller has a whole series of off the road/extreme type adventure movies. Seems appropriate for a jeep.

These are his production company's media contacts; I'd email them and ask for the story.

Press Room - Media Contacts | WarrenMiller.com

It certainly didn't come from the factory like that and might actually become collectible.

Cool, I've placed a call and am awaiting a response. I'll update to let you know what, if anything, I find out.

Does it look like a bumper sticker or a sticker that someone just put there, or more professional ?

My money is on someone getting the sticker and thinking it was cool to put on their jeep vs something more exciting.

But maybe not.

I'm thinking that it was a media vehicle that Chrysler loaned to the production company; probably were a couple of them.
Badged it up for buzz. Errand mule Rubicon.

A vehicle like that has intrinsic collectible value if you can get/authenticate the true story behind it. Some press photos of it during production would enhance the value as well. Anything that shows the history of the vehicle relating to the film or production.
I don't think the dealer knows what they have there.

It looks professionally applied. I took a picture of it, not sure where I can stash it so I can link to it.

update: I got a call from the public relations guy. He said the stickers were added to vehicles used in the creation of the movie. Perhaps as a mule like someone mentioned earlier.

I ended up buying a different one tho. Any people on here in or near Bismarck, ND send me a message, I'm looking for some Jeep friends here. haha

Thanks for your help!.
