Official Polar Edition Thread

Hi All - Got nervous about whether 2015 would have the Polar edition or not, so went ahead and snagged a 2014. Picking her up on Friday; installing wheel spacers and new side steps/rails on Saturday.

Anyone have official production numbers for 2014 Polars?

I went with the Unlimited in Billet Silver.

We have a couple of Polar owners here, and they've started a thread for them a couple of times, but they never seem to be very popular.

Jeep typically doesn't give production numbers until like a year or two after they are done. Even then they don't give out good breakdowns. I think you'll have a difficult time finding out anything until probably next year.

Congrats on your new Polar! I got my Hydro Blue pearl Polar a month ago. No mods yet, but have many plans in the works. I wanted a blue jeep, a body colored hard top, black leather (white stitching a bonus!), EVIC, Trac-loc rear end, automatic tranny and the closest Jeep dealer had a Polar on the lot they wanted to sell. Just worked out, had never even heard of a Polar Ed. lol.

A 2.5-3 lift with LCAs/maybe UCAs too, side rockers/steps, and wheels and tires very soon!

I believe the ordering started Nov 2013, but not sure when Polars stopped being produced (in 2014). Seems like this edition has a lot less numbers than most editions. I'd also like to see a Polar thread gain some traction here. OP try posting pics and mods you've done, etc. Might help keep a thread going...

eta: The rake is way way over emphasized in this pic because of the rear quarter angle of the pic. The rake is not that obvious in reality.

I took delivery of my white Polar on Wednesday. My first Jeep. Very pleased so far. Lots of positive reactions on the street.

Picked up a Polar a few months ago.

I wound up with a Polar because it had everything I would have had to add as an option in a package that cost less.

Very happy with it.

I think when Jeep finally does release the build numbers on the Polar edition we are going to find that quite a few were produced. In Colorado and Arizona there are still quite a few of them on dealer lots. In fact, Airpark Jeep in Scottsdale has several in all three color schemes.

Love my Polar. Here it is halfway up Mt. Evans. I've done a lot of lighting and cosmetic upgrades but no lift yet.

Let's keep this going...here's a shot of my Hydro Blue Unlimited. Was looking for a Copperhead Sahara and came across this beauty in the parking lot; fell in love with the color and the grouping of options the package came with. Most people flip over the color, and the "custom" details like the Power Dome Hood. In fact, took her to a Jeep show over the 4th of July and won best stock (tire size) Jeep out of a crowded field.

Mods so far are pretty limited, but work well with how it's usually used (around the city and driven by my lead foot wife):
- Mopar Tubular Steps
- 13 in. Antenna;
- Clear Side Markers, wired to flash with the turn signals;
- Quadratec Cargo Liner;
- POI Factory database of Red Light and Speed cameras to UConnect 430N;
- Roll Bar Mounted First Aid Kits; and
- Hood Decal Removed

Next steps:
- Some sort of improved lighting for longer trips (upgraded headlights if I can find ones that don't look awful or plug and play fog light replacement); and
- Wrangler Duratracs for better traction when she's occasionally taken on the trail

Nice choice of wheels for a white Polar. AEV 2.5" looks great and surprisingly level. It seems like most kits put the front noticeably higher, which keeps me in shopping mode (and it sucks!). I have no plans for bumpers (or a spring puck) in the near future, but currently have a hardtop and a hitch, so any extra weight will be on a drooping rear end (want to avoid that). Does your AEV kit make the Jeep handle turns with zero body lean?

I don't think it's possible to have zero body lean. I do notice the handling is better. It's a bit tough to evaluate because I put on the lift and the 35 in tires at the same time. I do feel more comfortable taking faster turns but with 35 in tires, you aren't going fast all at.

Has anyone thought getting bigger tires on the stock wheels? I'd like to get some Duratracs that are a little taller and wider than stock (255/70/18) but am not sure what size to go with. Most tire threads typically talk about 17" wheels and I've been curious what an ideal tire would be for an 18" wheel. I know I'd probably get some rubbing, but I can deal with it until I get a lift. I'm also torn on getting new wheels altogether so I can go bigger on the tires with no issues.

Love seeing a polar thread! It doesn't seem to be a very popular package in the Mid-Atlantic states (I live in Delaware but travel for work quite often). I traded in a 2012 Sahara for my Polar in early August and love it. The ride "feels" much nicer than my '12 and the seats are a huge improvement over my old cloth seats. The "power bulge" hood is a nice cosmetic improvement, even though it collects water when I wash it. haven't added much since my purchase, but I have plans down the road for leveling kit, 33" duratracs, and a hoist before next summer.
