Offroad light questions - Rigid Dually and E-series light bar

I'm looking to add some off road lighting to my vehicle and I'm looking for some feedback suggestions. My usage for the lights would be in the desert and completey off-road where there is no amient light so I'm looking for something that will light up the world, but also provide quality light.

I'm considering putting two Rigid Dually LED lights (spots) on windshield hinge brackets as well as a Rigid 20" E-Shield Light bar (20" E-Series LED Light Bar) which would be mounted on my AEV bumper. I would connect these with a sPOD for simplicity of wiring.

I'm not opposed to paying money for good high quality lights, but I haven't seen them in use and I typically like to see what I'm buying before spending the money.

BTW - I did listen to others and upgraded the stock lights to the Philips Xtreme 80+ bulbs and will probably upgrade to the Truck-lite LED headlights once they have one that will fix a 2012 JKU without modification.

So the questions:

1. Does anyone have any experience with the quality of light coming from the Dually and E-Shield Light bar? (ie, is it worth the money)

2. Any recommendations on the windshield bracket for the duallys?

I use mine for desert mostly too.. I have the 40" light bar from Vision x tho.. pretty sure as long as you get the same color of light they will look the same, I was out in the desert this weekend and forgot to get some night photos. I don't have any other aux lights so I can't help you on what the hood mounted and bumper mounted ones would look like.

thats what it looks like, and does the trick for me

Looks nice! Are the lights a mix of spot and flood? Do you think they throw enough light out so you can see "the world"?

I built a set of 7" lights with high and low beam for myself, and when I turn them on, the night disappears.....

I run two sets of Dually D2's and a 40" E-Series on my Raptor. The D2's are spots but the beam is more like a flood. Same for the 40". They do not reach out as far as an HID and they do not have a cut line on the beam. For low speed work the put out a lot of light. For high speed desert running HID's are a better choice. The D2's are not really usable on the street. They really flood the light. Can't aim the beam to not blind oncoming cars or light up the car in front.

D2's arent spots. D2 comes in either Driving Beam or Wide Beam. If you want spots, you need the regular Duallys.

Strange. Both boxes say D2 Spots. They are not what I would consider a spot or a driving pattern.

I might have to reconsider the light bar as I want alot of light - but for any speed.

According to Rigid's website they say the Dually's have a spot beam (which I would use), but the D2's have a driving or flood.

I like the MBRP bracket that shown. Any other brackets that people have used? I've heard the Mopar aren't bad...

So did you purchase any lights? I live here in AZ as well and i'm looking to add some rigid lights to my yj. I'm looking at getting a pair of dually d2's but can't decide if i want flood or driving pattern. I currently have a pair of HID headlights in my YJ right now which push out a ton of light with long distance.

My lights dont go very wideand i cant see very wide so i'm thinking floods would be best but still unsure. Which did you go with?

Where are you at in AZ? I have Rigid Dually's on my windshield. You are welcome to see them anytime. The D2 is supposed to be brighter than the Dually so you can guage from there. Also don't know if you know, but Rigid is an AZ company with their warehouse off of the 202 Red Mountain and Greenfield or something. They have all their lights set up for you to look at. I am getting 2 rear facing flood dually's Monday.

Anything Rigid is top notch and good at any speed, there are tons of competition pre runner's using Rigid lighting. To finish off my light package I am going with a 10" E-Series light bar mounted on my winch fairlead.

i'm located in Tempe. I'm aware Rigid is a local company, i had a friend take a 40" lightbar to them to get changed from white to amber and they charged him $40 to do it. I think i'm set on going with the Dually D2's in white and putting them in the same place you have, near the windshield. Which pattern did you go with, flood or spot? Do they reflect off the hood and lose any distance or width? Thats the only thing i'm worried about. I might get a 10" E-series to put on my front hoop as well at some point in time, either that or i'll buy something cheaper from DDM Tuning which i've always been happy with.

I went with spot so I wouldn't get reflection off the hood and I wanted more distance than what flood could give me. In your case Spot or Driving beam would be a good choice. The D2's are a lot brighter than the Dually and I am happy with the Dually so will be amazed with the light output.

I have looked elsewhere for something "cheaper" than Rigid's stuff but I always come back to it cause they make damn good stuff.

Rigid Lights installed

Well I finally was able to get the Rigid Duallys and Rigid 20" light bar installed. I used the Dually's (not D2) in spot for the windshield lights so glare was not an issue. I was able see the D2 lights and thought there would be too much light spread over the hood thus the reason I went with the original Duallys. I also installed a Dually diffused on top of the tire carrier so I could have plenty of light out on the trail. To simplify the installation process, I picked up a SPOD so the wiring was relatively simple. Now it will be easier to install any additional mods requiring wiring and run them through the SPOD.

The dually's are pretty impressive and put out a nice clean white light. I also like the fact that you don't really notice them on the windshield brackets when driving.

Awesome, great choices there in lighting. That 20" bar fits perfectly in the AEV bumper's hoop.

Very nice! Love the 20", those things are so bright!
My Dualy D2's should be here this week. I'll be adding some ddm led lights in back and under my rig for at night. They are cheap and amazing lights. Hopefully I can have everything installed by the time night wheeling starts!

The 20' bar is bright. It's easy to adjust the light up and down. My only complaint is the spread could be better but combined with headlights and fog lights its sufficient. If you were to combine it with two D2's it would be the perfect combo.

what pattern did you guys have for the 20" lightbar?

NoTasker - I too will be mounting it on an AEV bumper.

Lightbar I will be ordering will have 4 amber Led's on each side and 32 (center) in white. Custom order from Rigid with three triggers. White centers will be connected to SPOD and Ambers will be connected to a flasher and then to a Rocker switch on a daystar panel.

thinking about flood pattern for either side amber leds & spot for center white led's.

thoughts?
