Sounds like a rear axle seal.

I'm taking a '13 JK Rubicon in tonight for a right rear wheel oil leak of some sort - I'm assuming it's between the wheel & axle but did not confirm. I didn't notice any burning smell - just noticed a a few drips on the garage floor last Friday & started looking closer. I'll find out tomorrow the diagnosis.

I'm guessing it is a bad axle seal. I had to take my 2012 JKU Rubicon back to the dealer twice for a front passenger side axle seal leak. They fixed it the first time, but didn't do it right. I had to take it back within a few weeks to fix it again.

I don't have that problem anymore because I replaced the axle with a PR44. No more leak.

22k miles on mine when i noticed my rear axel seal was leaking. Odds are the same thing is happening to you. Good news is it should be covered under your warranty and its a quick fix.

2011 JK with 27k in miles. Left rear seal stared leaking-with the others on the thread around the same mileage 22-27k perhaps there is a quality issue for the design?

My '13 is sitting at the dealership waiting for parts right now. Rear passenger side started leaking with less than 4k on it.

I discovered it after making a 4 hour road trip. It wasn't whining or anything, but the dealer said they wanted to replace the diff in it. Not sure if it leaked enough to damage the rear.

Pretty discouraging after 15 years of trouble free Toyota and Nissan pickups.

My left rear seal let go at 96k. It was replaced under the Lifetime Unlimited Warranty.
