Bad day for the Jeep. Went 4 wheeling with my dad to go blast some .45 so I went to my normal place where I had been going for years with my old fords. I didn't even have to put it in 4x4, it made it look too easy. I didn't even bash my head against the window due to body sway. Absolutely ridiculous, the Jeep didn't even struggle a hair.....how boring. THEN, I stop at a red light next to a corvette and, can you believe it, he wants to race. So I step on it, the Pentastar roars to the awe-inspiring RPMs of 2800 and.... he won. WHAT?!?!?!? Not what i signed up for.
THEN.... I go to the gas station and a prius comes in behind me. I tell him (I though it was a him, never did know for sure.....) my mpg of 19.3 and act totally smug because I know I am saving the earth one tank at a time. He told me he was getting almost 40 mpg. WHAT?!?!?!?!? Again, beat by a corvette in a race and by a prius in mpg?! Damn you Chrysler, you lied about the pentastar. :banghead:

Actually, just drove around without the top. Best. damn. vehicle. 4x4 is absolutely effortless and a true joy. Now I just have to get the dealership to replace a leaking caliper from the factory. I can't love this thing enough. Just been noticing alot of mpg threads and figured I'd get my story of woe on the board.:hide:

A two door Rubi has a 0-60 in the mid to low 6 second range (if manual) which is VERY VERY respectable for a sedan, let alone a two ton 32" tire having offroad brick. A 2.5L Golf would not give you a romping. Most current econoboxes has 0-60 times of 8 seconds+.

I know it's not a race car, but they can still spank smugmobiles like the Prius.

Wait, I'm confused. Is the OP stating he is actually mad that his Jeep is good offroad, but also is mad because he didn't know before buying that it's slower than a vette and doesn't get the gas mileage of a prius?

If this is actually what he is saying, then I have no sympathy. I did months of homework before I bought mine and knew what I was getting into and he should have done the same

I raced my wife on the way home today, in her '04 diesel Jetta. I did not push it 'cuz the Jk is still new but she wasted me, guess I shouldn't have tune that car  Stupid forced induction diesels!

I live down the street from Willow Springs Raceway, we see all kinds of Iron roll through this town foreign and domestic. I always ask then the same question, "Want to play follow the leader? I will let you go first." Have yet to get a taker, even from the Suburu guys.

Jeeps rock, we went places yesterday that were just awesome, pulled out a stuck Nissan truck and played ambulance to a dude that busted up his leg on a dirt bike. Don't think we will see a Prius or vette do that!
