Old man emu 2 inch lift kit

Not finding a lot out there about it anyone have one on a jku? What do you like not like about it. I want to put 33s on my jeep with a decent small amount of lift with some articulation.

A local shop/fabricator here (RokMen) uses OME a lot, and say it has THE best ride if not one of the best anywhere. I have ridden in their JKU once, and it is a very smooth setup...smoother than most I have experienced so far...not harsh at all on rough roads. I sometimes wish I had gone down this lift route originally. Call them if you want.

There is a lot of difference in lift from the lite to HD lift in a 2".

I have bumpers, winch, armor, etc. and still got almost 3"s out of the HD and I run 35's.

The ride is better than stock even off road and I don't have anything negative to say about it.

I do have Bilstein shocks but that is only a personal preference.

I have the HD springs and the bilstein shocks. It rides stiffer than stock on the small bumps but far better in turns and on road handling. If you go with the light duty springs you will get a little softer ride, and a little less lift (probably around 2") Which will work well with 33's.

Below are some images of mine when it was running the OME 2" heavy kit with 33x10.5 KM2's on ATX Mojave wheels (no spacers).

Loved it for what it was capable of which consisted of mild to slightly moderate wheeling. The only issues I had were rubbing on the inside rear of the tires against the frame rail at full steering lock and rubbing in the rear fender wells at full compression.

Was easy to install also. Took me about 4-5 hours in my garage and the only specialty tool needed was a spring compressor which can usually be rented from Autozone or O'Reilly's.




The following pic gives an idea of the amount of lift actually obtained.

I bought just the springs and hardware and the shocks separate as it was a better deal through my 4x4 shop.

Didn't need the brackets or track bars, but did add front lower control arms when I put the new tires on. With the BFG AT's it rode fine.

Install was easy.

DPG Offroad or Northridge 4x4 offer good package deals on OME kits - they round them out as you like - your choice of brake line extensions, track bars, etc. I went with Northridge, ultimately.

I intentionally gamed the system to net more than 2.0 inches of lift, but you can tailor the coil weights and lengths to suit your needs. You can also go with long travel shocks if you're willing to add bump stops and coil retainers. Again, this is a popular enough option that you can order this as a kit from Northridge.

I have a 2 door, so my results may be a little different. I run the OME HD coils and Bilstein shocks. The lift is considerable! About 3-3.5 inches in the rear and 2.5-3 inches in the front. This is with steel front and rear bumpers and tire carrier and a Warn Zenon.

The ride is phenomenal. Far better than stock. Small bump compliance is more noticeable due to a faster rebound rate. This will prevent pack up while off-roading on successive hits.

As for the package, it is just the coils in a cardboard box, if that's what you order. OME makes a variety of kits. I would recommend adjustable track bars and of course end links for your sway bar. With this lift, my axles had shifted almost an inch in the rear and a half inch in the front. The OE sway bars were pointed down 15-20 degrees in the rear.

I am running 33's with no problems what so ever. I could easily stuff a 35 underneath with room to spare! Hope this helps some.

so if i was gonna put an aftermarket front bumper i should get the HD but from what i've read here it seems that even with bumpers and other armor its still more than 2"

OME makes good stuff. Just a warning about ordering though. My friend has a TJ and ordered the OME 2 in kit from quadratec. The problem he had was he ordered a "medium" kit and it turns out that OME does not make a medium kit. If you order a medium kit, quadratec sends you light springs for the front and heavy springs for the rear. After some phone calls quadratec made it right by sending new front springs, but it was an inconvenience. He installed the lift. The jeep didn't sit right, so then had to install the replacement springs in the front.
