I don’t get it they have a winch on the front of the jeep but use a rope with block & tackle to repel the jeep down steep mountain side.

I just watched the episode where they had to drive down from the glacier field on the volcano. As I understand it, they have a survival expert, and an off road driving expert. Well if the offroad driver is an expert, why didn't he know he had a broken axle on that Jeep just from looking at it. Its a Dana 35, Duh, thats what they do. And a c-clip axle is going to come out once it breaks. It was surprising that he pulled the axle out, and then said something like "oh my god, the axle's broken". Well no shit Sherlock, what did you think had happened.

Oh well, you cant expect them to be perfect. I think its actually an interesting show overall. I plan on watching it again. Who cares if they call it a car.

I barely made it through the first episode. So cheesy and over-dramatized. I've got the others recorded but just can't bring myself to watch them. That offroad expert is a douche.

That's what tv is all about. Fake and overdramatized. I can't stand the stuff that comes on tv.

If you don't like it, don't watch it, simple. The show is made for the general viewing audience that has little knowledge of Jeeps and terrain. I think if it was only a technical show it would be boring as hell. The driver is a professional drifter, not a professional mechanic.
I think it's great for exposing to the general population what Jeeps can do, and what fun they can be. It only makes sense as Jeep is a major sponsor of the show. If you want to stick up your nose to the show go ahead, but if you go into it expecting something else you will be disappointed. If you get bored of it you can always watch any of the other Jeep shows. Oh wait, that's right, there are no other shows.

I personally like the show, maybe because I'm new to the Jeep, I still have stars in my eyes and everything JEEP is great to me, but like ^^ said, there isn't another Jeep show!
I know some of the scenes are fake, or set up, but come on! Rapalling down a cliff is fun! Let alone if your doing it riding on the Jeeps spare tire. I look forward to the show every week, love the exotic locals, everything....to each his own.

I just caught it yesterday. It is entertaining but that is it, entertainment. They make everything more complicated than it should be and over dramatize everything.

And the so called "gearhead" Billy Wu, has only been driving semi professionally for 4 years and he does street rallys like Gumball and what not. I don't know what makes him an expert in offroading a Jeep in exotic locales.

The big disclaimer at the beginning of the show really says it all. It is highly staged, but who didn't know that already? Overall, I like it a lot. Especially some of the fixes such as the broken axle, leaking radiator, throttle cable and spark plug wire. The wheeling is cool to watch. I'm less interested in the hokey survival aspects.

It is kind of melodramatic, typical reality TV Once you put on your filters and tune that out it's not too bad.

I was thinking about why they call it a car, and noticed that the Jeep emblems are not really visible......I wonder if Jeep refused to allow them to use their trademark so car is what they were left with.

Had high hopes - especially after people's initial positive reactions on here, but.. Yeah it's obviously scripted and overly dramatic. Awesome concept and could be a cool show, but... I'm guessing this was pitched in one way then corporate folks got their input and ruined it. Hopefully some public feedback can help shift it to being the cool show it should be! And yeah... Still waiting to see this car they talk about in the title.

No they must allow them to Use their trademark. They technically sponsor the show so I'm not sure why they wouldn't

I think you're correct. They never call it a jeep, which is kinda weird. You'd think that promoting the toughness of their "car" and the situations it can perform in, I would assume Chrysler would be all over calling it what it is....a Jeep!
As for the show, it is what it is. I watch it if nothing else is on. They could have done a better choice in their "gearhead" Bill, he's kind of a whinney wuss boy and his character doesn't lend much to the show.

Here is a reply from another forum about the show:

Yes Jeep is a sponsor of the show, but they did not sign-up to be a sponsor when the show was filmed so the producers chose to remove all the badging and such because they didn't want to change the vehicle. After reviewing the show Jeep agreed that is perfect advertisement for them and that is when they became the primary sponsor. A lot of these types of shows are shot on a shoestring budget the first season until they are a proven success. If this show makes it to season two I am sure they will step up their game. Watched a couple of them. few interesting tips, floor mats under the tires in sand, doors off for deep river crossing etc.
Kinda feel bad for the ex special forces guy though. He really knows his stuff and does all of the hard work during the recovery situations and always gathers water/food.

Unfortunatly the Wu tool just keeps ruining the show by whining about steak and sushi every night before bed, gets old real fast. Yeah, we know your from Califonia Bro! Man up for 2 days and quit your bitching.

Yes it's a real shame because the CONCEPT of the show is fantastic. It has so much potential. It was just done in an awful manner. The production and writing was horrible...but the idea of the show is great. I hope they do a second season and do it the right way.

And my assumption was that they refer to the Jeep as a "car" because this is a global show, not just an American show, and the global culture calls SUVs "cars" because that's what they are...CARriers. Americans are the only ones in the world @$$ backward...we use standard sockets, degrees F for temp, just all kinds of goofy units for measurement and words for things.
