I haven't tested it but my guess would be that it can go faster than that.

It actually accelerates pretty decent in its stock form.

I was merging into the highway the other day and the jerk behind me in an Accord tried to dart around me to merge before I could. I had to get on the throttle and I was surprises how fast it went. Let's just say he didn't have enough to get around me.

I suspect it is electronically limited rather than "unable". Not too sure I would want to be riding in a brick at 120mph tho. Like say that was actually street legal lol.

I can never get to 100 in my Rubicon. For some reason, once I hit 88 mph, all kinds of strange stuff starts to happen.

I thought it was rather odd too. I haven't driven a vehicle with only a 100 mph speedometer since, what, the 1980's? And to me, it really has more to do with the speed when the needle is straight up; 50 seems a bit low as cruising speed.

Though, it could be that if you tried to go 100 mph, the gas mileage drops to zero.

It's limited to 100. You bought the wrong vehicle.

Especially in a 2-door Wrangler. Short wheelbase + big tires = lack of high speed stability!

This is why some of us choose to have more than one vehicle, depending on the task at hand:

(hint: high and slow on the left; low and fast on the right)

100mph would be a cornhole-puckering experience in a Wrangler.

Only time you need 100mph in a Jeep (and even then, probably not):

I thought I saw the speed had a GOV limited speed of 99mph in one of my magazine tests.

So if it wasn't limited by the gov and one had the nerve (stupidity), I bet the 3.6 would take a wrangler over 100 mph.

Why in the bloody hell would you want to go 100mph in a Wrangler? Go buy a Vette if speed is your thing

100 even. It's necessary when trying to catch a flight out for work after leaving early (or so I thought) and sitting in traffic.

Yeah, the jeep is our vehicle for fun at less than 1MPH. That time includes spotting and the occasional trail meetings that have been known to occur while out and about. For life in the fast lane we choose our two wheel Super Sport Tourer when trips to triple digits is desired.

We have a toll road out where I am and very early in the morning, no one is on it. I have tried very hard to surpass 100mph and it just wouldn't. I have the navigation package and it shows the speed digitally and it won't go above 100 even. And thats in 4th gear! With the manual transmission, I have 2 more gears left! I honestly felt very comfortable in it, no rattling, wobbling, or anything that felt dangerous.
