Opinions on Choice of JK?

Hey guys ... new to the board and planning on getting a 2 dr Sahara Wrangler when the new engine arrives. I have been pondering a few options ... anyone input is welcome. I owned a '98 Wrangler Sahara back in the day and have missed having once since I traded it in. This Wrangler will be my 2nd car rather than a primary driver (the reason I traded last time).

My first reaction is to get a Black Sahara with the tan leather seats. I love how the tan looks along with the tan Sahara logo, etc. One thing I don't seem to care for is the body color painted hard top on the Sahara edition in Black. I do know I don't have to get the painted hard top, but just battling with whether to or not.

My second option is the get a Red Sahara with a black hardtop. I do not like the red body color painted hardtop AT ALL. As I stated prior I do like the tan leather seats, but am unsure I would like the tan leather match with the black on the bumpers, hard top, and running boards. I would maybe stick with black cloth and get the black Sahara logo I've seen some people go with on here. Guess I could have the seats re-done in black leather as well. I also thought about trying to get the Mountain/Black Ops rims to go with the Red Sahara. Is this an easy route to go? Can I buy them anywhere? Would I regret not having the 18" rims that come with the Sahara edition?

Any opinions on the route I should go? Any pics that might help me? I know I have to decide for myself, but I guess I'm looking for some input and ideas or opinions. Thanks to everyone in advance!

I have an 09 Sahara 2dr with black hardtop and gray interior. At the time it was purchased, there was a black Sahara available with tan top and interior. We went with the all black. Also think this years matching painted top would look good but I'm obviously biased. But it is a good Bias! I'm sure once the decision is made, it will be right for you.
Good luck and welcome!!!

Since no one knows what the 2012 options and colors will be, discussing what choices you should make is pointless.

This is a really tough question--your personal taste and what will be available in 2012 are things none of us know.

I can say that most people prefer NOT to have the 18" Sahara wheels simply because it makes tires more expensive. Plenty of people love them of course, but I'm generalizing. The most desirable stock wheels are the 17" Rubicon ones, which are identical to the Mountain/Black Ops ones except for the fact that the Mountain/Black Ops wheels are dyed a mineral grey color.

The Mountain/Black Ops wheels are absolutely available aftermarket, though like any Mopar product they're much more expensive than they should be. Other companies make similar--but not identical--wheels. That said, I have a Mountain and love my wheels.

Also, bear in mind that the aftermarket is huge. You can change or add almost anything. For example, if the only thing you like about the sahara is the logos--but like the Rubicon/Sport fenders more--the get a rubi/sport and add sahara style decals.

I should not answer this as I dislike the looks of the Sahara, so I am admittedly biased.

But I do agree the aftermarket is huge and whatever you get, sport, sahara, rubicon, you can make it into what want. That is one thing I really love about jeeps - each one is unique once we start the mods.

Also 18" wheels - you can almost get 17" wheels and tires for the cost of 18" tires, and you can alomost get 16" wheels and tires for the cost of 17" tires. I like 17" wheels myself for performance and handling. 18" tires are significantly more expensive.
