Cali is not friendly with colors other than amber or white. Red and Blue is reserved for emergency vehicles. I have blue and red Whelan strobes on my civilian owned Caprice PPV, but I can never have them on or show red or blue reflectors. The LEDS and reflectors are clear when they are off. But when they are on, they are red and blue.
Great thanks for the responses. Would I be able to get away with green headlights in cali or would that get me pulled over pretty quickly? Also, what are the repercussions for having illegally colored headlights?
They are bright enough to run as DRL's. Blue, Red and Green will cause a problem with some PD's.
At the very least you will get a fix it ticket which means you have to remove them and then pay for inspection. The state and cities are hurting for income so don't be surprised if they tack on a fine.
If you just want them for show when you are cruising around the mall you can probably get away with it but driving it traffic they will be obvious. There seems to be zero enforcement on HID bulbs inside of Halogen reflectors but colored lights conflict with emergency vehicles.
