Ordering a 2012 Wrangler

Hello everyone,

I visited my local Jeep dealership (Rosenberg, TX) over the weekend and negotiated a deal for ordering a 2012 Rubicon @ invoice price - has anyone ordered a 2012 yet? If so, do you believe that I'm getting a great deal? (I have read that some buyers were able to get 1% and even 2% below invoice – the dealership stated that I would have to join some organizations such as ‘Tread Lightly’ in order to receive pricing below invoice).

I'm so excited about placing an order but also worried about possible changes to the Wranglers rugged appearance with some aerodynamic features that we see in almost every car (unfortunately, I have not seen any pictures for the 2012 wrangler and I'm wondering why Jeep is not releasing them – I fear possible external changes).

Your comments and advice are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ayman

Definitely look into joining Tread Lightly. Either do a search on this forum for more information or just go to Tread Lightly - Home directly. That will give you access to the 1% under invoice discount.

Tread lightly is a cheap and easy way to get a fair deal on your 2012. It saves you from the haggle experience. My Tread Lightly saved me $375 with no hassles. Your savings will vary with difference in you order. That is for JKU Rubicon with everything but soft top. There are also other discounts that come with your membership. Without it's hard to get to invoice let alone under.

60.00 for a three year membership to treadlighty, will get you 1% under dealer invoice, and deals on tires...and alot of other stuff, plus you are supporting a great organization..

I just ordered a 2012 for my mother last week ...she and my father are excited ..

Local dealer here was doing 2% under w/ TL, for pre-order '12s. If they can do it once, I always think they can do it again. When I bought my leftover '10 I got it for 2% under w/ no TL membership. Guess it depends how bad the dealership wants to move the product...

After a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, I was able to negotiate $32,000 for following:

2012 Rubicon Unlimited
6 Speed
Hard Top
Heated Seats
Max Tow Package

MSRP: $35,675

Invoice: $33,561

Friends & Family Price: $33,225

Employee Price: $31,958

Hold Back: $1046

Essentially, I was able to negotiate it down to Employee Pricing (without actually having to provide a Control Number). This will be my 4th Wrangler, and each time I've purchased a Wrangler over the years, I always start the negotiations at EP, and then hold my ground from there.

One important point here is that the dealership was able to apply some type of special $1000 owner loyalty rebate, even though the owner loyalty rebates have not been officially announced for the 2012's.

Any more details on this? Qualification, codes for discount on your Priced Order Confirmation, etc... ?

I'd love to hear more about your negotiation to bring them down to employee pricing... I'll be buying in 2012 and I'd like to know all the methods I can to keep my pants firmly around my waist during the process

If this stock market keeps falling I think employee pricing will be pretty easy to get. I've spoken with three people who were considering new vehicles this past weekend and as of yesterday all three were putting it on hold. Outside of this site I think a lot of people are thinking along those lines.

I believe the $1000 rebate is actually two factory-to-dealer $500 coupons that they're going to apply to the sale. Apparently, dealers receive special coupons each month based on the prior month's sales that they're allowed to apply to any sale. Sometimes they get none, while other times they get several. They come in $500 and $1000 increments, and are at the sole discretion of the dealership to use in any way they'd like, in order to seal a deal. They expire at the end of each month.

The invoice price on my new Jeep is $33,561. They're taking $561 from the hold back, bringing the cost to an even $33,000, and then they're applying the $1000 rebate, which brings it down to $32,000 (exactly $42 above Employee Pricing).

In order to seal this deal, I essentially said, "If you can get me to employee pricing, I'll sign on the dotted line right now! If not, I'll try other dealers in the area." Needless to say, you need to be ready to simply hold your ground and be absolutely prepared to walk away.

Hope this helps...

Where I am confused is with all the different prices and where I can find them. Is the MSRP the window sticker price? How much is the invoice price less then what the MSRP? Is the invoice price what the dealer pays for Jeep? How do I know what employee pricing would be? Need allot more info before I get taken by my dealer. Thanks

All the information you're looking for will be on the build sheet. The dealer should be able to provide this for you. Sit down with the dealer and build your Jeep and then ask to see the build sheet with the MSRP, Invoice Price, Employee Price and the Hold Back. They will provide this for you if you ask.

Dealer is acting like I am asking for something that doesnt exist. Are they the only one that would have it?

Pretty sure you can see invoice pricing on carsdirect.com, maybe not for the 2012s yet, but there are tons of threads in the forum with this info. Dont walk in there without knowing your target price. Where you got the info doesnt matter if its accurate.

When I went into the dealer and ordered mine they showed me the build sheet with the MSRP, preferred pricing, and employee pricing right on it. They were very upfront with all of the pricing and I told them I would take the vehicle (2012 JKU Rubicon) for 2% under invoice and they were willing to do so. I had a control number for 1% under invoice since my work has an affiliation with Chrysler. I had a sheet with me with all of the invoice prices, etc. and he even read out the same invoice price after adding all of the options to the build.

They weren't going to let me have it for employee pricing, that is a great deal.
