Ordering a 2014... Trade in question?

I'm ordering a 2014 soon and have a trade. But I can't go without a vehicle for a few months. How do the dealers usually handle trades when you are ordering something that will take a few months to come in? Do they take your trade that day? then i can just rent one untill it comes in? Any info is appreciated.

They will let you keep your car until the order unit comes in and then they will appraise it. I'm a sales person for a jeep dealer

I would ask for an estimate when ordering with a mileage allowance. No guarantee they won't change the value but unless something happens to it, or they lie, the estimate should be close.

Unless you put on an insane amount of miles, the offer should stand, or at least VERY closet to it...provided the condition doesn't change.

I traded my 08 JKU on a new JKUR 10A. They appraised my vehicle when I bought it in April and next week when my new jeep comes in as long as the condition is the same and the miles are reasonable they will keep their offer the same. I'm not concerned, even if they try and lower the price I will sell it privately. I am sure I could get $1500 more on a private sale.

Don't forget your vehicle title when you take it in.

trade in

hi, on my last jeep I ordered I just traded in and went down to one car for about 6 weeks, it was a bit of a pain, however I got a chance to see what it would be like to have one car don't know if I would do it that
way again! I think if you keep your miles low you should be able to keep
your trade till your new ordered jeep comes in..

I ordered a 2014 today and sold my 2004 TJ privately - The buyer is willing to wait until the new vehicle arrives.

Make sure you get a written agreement for your trade-in value once you agree upon the price with the dealership. If you already have a completed and signed purchase order (or whatever they call it), everything should be spelled out on there.

It was over 3 months between my order date and the day I took delivery. When I picked mine up, everything worked out exactly as was written on that form from 3 months prior with no issues.

i've bought tons of cars, never had one take my car and make me wait... generally as long as condition stays same and mileage within reason they will just honor the price when new vehicle comes in.. talk with them and get in writing with a "allowance" on miles.. i.e. 20k now... tell them. what price at 22-23k and have that on the paperwork.. then when new vehicle comes in.. just dont wreck it before then

rental for 2+ months=stupid... they should have no problem agree'ing to your terms... you did afterall just buy a car from them.

if they dont do the deal, you can always walk... most deposits by law are refundable as well.. no dealer is going to go thru litigation and defame their dealer name to hold onto a deposit because of them dicking you on a trade... any judge would side with you.

I just ordered a 2014. I had an 08 Sahara Unlimited with 35,500 miles. I asked for $23,000 which I thought was fair considering that I paid $27,000 in 2009 for it and they agreed. Said they will honor it once my jeep comes in. Real low pressure. They might not realize that it might be a few months though.

Curious how it works with outside financing. Does the paperwork get signed at the time of the order or when you take delivery? If I arrange financing now will they process the paperwork when I order it if I ask them to in order to lock in my rate now?

The paperwork gets done as soon as your jeep comes in.

Sign the Purchase Agreement now just to lock in the price of the ordered vehicle and avoid any "difference" in prices when the vehicle arrives. As was mentioned, I would get everything in writing including the trade in agreement.
