Paint Protection for JKU?

So I just bought my first Jeep and am wondering if I need to put some kind of protection on the vehicle, maybe something like Clear Bra or buy a Mopar grill and hood cover?

I am trying to guard against love bug season in Florida, misc road grim while driving from Florida to North Carolina several times a year, along with general nicks you get when driving off-road in Florida (think heavy sticks and brush).

I know this is Jeep and meant to be abused, but I just don't have it in me to not try to protect what I can.

Any thoughts?

--MOTHERS--CALIFORNIA GOLD/Carnauba Cleaner Wax-

Putit on a couple times a year, very protective for clear coats, you can put a quick coat on, just before a very brushy/sticky run--then buff off after-

So do people even worry about protecting their paints from bugs and brush?

Husky Liner makes a clear front end cover, it comes with a piece for the leading edge of the hood too. I put it on our jeep as soon as we got it. We haven't had it a long time yet but the material felt heavy enough to protect it from most road debris and bugs. Had similar stuff on a previous vehicle and it worked well.

One thing it didn't say in the instructions but I would do if I ever had to do it again - Take the grill off to put it on. I was screwing around on my knees, then standing, then sitting on the floor, then standing again trying to put it in place. I took the grill off when I put a light bar on later, it takes literally 2 minutes at most to take the whole thing off, then you can just do it on a table.

Did you install the Husky Liner yourself?

I got a quote on the Clear Bra today and it was $899 installed! That was for all fenders, hood, A-Pillar, and Grill.

I put on a 3M clear bra on my JKU. It has kept the rock chips down during the winter months and it's near invisible. I put it on my grill, front 1/4 of my hood and Sahara flares.

In this photo you can see the 3M bra line on the hood and my passenger fender flare with all the mud.

and you can't see it when the JK is clean which I like and no issues of scratching like a normal bra.

Had a 3M product installed on our JKUR, local shop in Spokane did it for 100.00 dollars. Included grill, headlights, fog lights, and a six inch strip on the hood. Very well done and don't have to worry about rock chips. Washington DOT uses gravel the size of marbles around here to sand roads in the winter. I have been using the same company for over twenty years and the owner always gives me a deal.
