I painted my Van Beest shackles red. No pics unfortunately right now. :/
It was purely a poser move to make them contrast against my bumper. I leave mine on my bumper all the time. I cranked them pretty tight so they'd be a bitch to steal. If/when I use them for recovery and they get marred I would just touch them up.
Careful with that red. The 10A Club will think you are trying to imitate what is apparently the greatest thing to ever roll down the road with a 7-slotted grille.
I was accused in that thread of wanting everyone to think I'm driving a 10A.
My Van Beest pin came dark green and I left it like that, with first use the paint started to wear where it contacted the tab. Maybe the shackles themselves would hold up better if they were always only having contact with ropes and straps. Kramer, what did you paint yours with?
Mine were also the VB Green Pin shackles. I used some standard Rustoleum bright red paint. Put down about 3 coats and they look nice. Ironically they look just like Crosby shackles now.
Not sure it would look right even with a white JK but you never know! Give it a try, you can always repaint if they dont look right! I have a silver D in the back and 2 black ones in the front and need to do something myself.

That is a good point. Somehow, (maybe because there is a white and chrome H2 near me) I feel like the white shackles on the white JK is H2ish. Throw down a contrast like the new 10A red. Though, I'd bet med. blue accents would look great on a white JK!
And if you tighten down the pins enough and use some bushings on the pins you can do without the shackle isolators. I bought a set of the isolators but didn't like them.
I vote white. I personally like the painted D-rings.
I just got some Crosby ones and they came with a scratched to heck red pins. I was planning on painting those pins the same color as my jeep. Not sure if I'm going to do the whole D-ring. I have the same black isolaters as you have on yours.
Anyway, I say go for it! When they get scratched up just touch em up.
My girly style opinion is they look awesome colored the same color on the colored jeeps. Black jeeps I feel can do ANY color and white should be any color BUT white. I feel it looks "jersey shore'ish" and one step closer to the shiny chrome spiny wheels lol.
I love white jeeps however they seem to be tricky.
I bought the Crosby red D-rings through Quadratec back in November...but most of the paint was chipped off when I received them because of bad packaging. I repainted with glossy Krylon Dual...I don't remember whether it was Cherry Red or Banner Red...I have both still out in the barn. I also added the Daystar Isolators. They didn't match so I painted them too.
Sweet...I may do white, orange crush, or winter chill on mine!!!
However will have to made till the new bumper!
