Painting the inside of a hard top?

Has anyone painted the inside of their hardtop? I just recently got my new 10A unlimited with duel top group and after I took off the hard top and put on the soft top I realized that the reason I liked the softie better was because it was black inside. This got me thinking about painting the inside of my top black; I'm just concerned about heat (I figure that would be the only reason why Jeep wouldn't do it from the factory).

Any help on this would be appreciated.

I haven't tried that. But if you prep it right & keep it clean was you are painting I don't see a problem. You can try to use the high temp paint.

You can always paint a small spot & see how it does for a few weeks.

THe reason the inside of the hard top is white is because it has never been painted, and it is white naturally. So....they never painted it white for any reason at the factory.

Painted the inside of my freedom panels to see if Id like the color change. The answer is heck yea. Only prep work i did was clean it with some armor all wipes and then let the spraying commence. When i get a better streak of warm weather I'll be finishing the rest to be sure.

Painted the inside of mine with rustolem satin black. I like it a lot better than white.

Has anyone painted the inside body color? I'm considering painting to match (CG) and then adding dark oak hothead headliners to match the saddle interior. Obviously wouldn't need paint where the headliners go. I'm on the fence between ordering a bunch of Mopar touch-up paint and having a go or taking it to a paint/body shop.

I'd be really curious to see how that turns out.

I've got a friend that does auto body work so I think I'm going to have him paint the inside for me. Do you think it should be painted in flat, satin, semi-gloss, or gloss (black of course).

I went with the satin finish.

Did mine with rustoleum satin black. Prepped with mineral spirits and taped off all glass and removed the latches. Turned out great and does not make it hotter. Logically if anything it would make inside cooler as white radiates light and heat. It's the black on the outside that makes it hot.

I hated the white interior and this is my favorite mod to date
