Thumbs down Parts Backordered

Anyone with a part on backorder. My 2010 is out for maybe months. No help from Chrysler nor my dealership at this point. Very unhappy customer. I guess they never got over the past problems and don't have the vendors to supply parts which is not right for the customers. I will never own another Jeep if I can ever get this one back.

What is wrong with your Wrangler and what part is on back order?

I hope it isnt an ignition cylinder. My key broke off in mine and they had to order a whole one instead of just pulling the broken part out, which I was like just pull that broken piece out guys, but no. It is down for 3-5 days.

Total Power Module, controls electrical system. No one can even give a date when the parts will be available. They will not provide a loaner car, and I have not even had the Jeep a year. I know 96 are on backorder for other customers across the USA. Other Jeep dealers are estimating at least 3 months for parts. It does no good to have a case number with Chrysler as they don't care. Jeep is listed as DOR. We the customers are screwed. I am seeking legal if this goes for a long period of time. Thanks for asking about the part.

I have a 2010 JK 2DR and I have a backorder on the passenger side and tailgate locking mechanisms...If anything were to happen and I didn't have the parts because of back order, Chrysler will be liable. I think it's a big issue.

Haha, well I mean if something were to happen and they could have prevented it by having the parts at hand, it should be their fault.

That's strange that they are ordering a whole ignition for a broken key. I'm a locksmith and for something like that I would have removed the ignition from the housing, take out the broken piece then depending on what kind of key you have read the cuts and cut a code key onto a new shell and swap the guts from your key into the new one if you have a remote head key, if you have just a plain chip key then clone the chip information onto a new one and cut a code key. Both of those methods would have been faster and far less expensive.

Check the lemon law rules for your state. You may qualify. In Washington state for example, (this is from memory, so may be a little off) if it's in the shop for a total of 30 calendar days in the the first year (may actually be more), it would be eligible for replacement or buy-back.

They ended up just doing that after keeping it for 3 days, when they could have had it done in an afternoon. It kinda pissed me off actually. No, actually it did piss me off.

TIPM on back order

My 2010 JK has been at the dealership for 59 days waiting for the TIPM to arrive. Latest rumor is next week.

Shouldn't they buy it back at some point?

What year is your Jeep? You need to look at Lemon Law, I know I am if I don't have mine back soon. Each state is different. Good luck, hope they do have parts soon.

It may not be Chrysler's fault. I had a visit with a dealer awhile ago. It seem that a bunch of their electronics are made in Japan as are a bunch of the pigments for the paint Chrysler uses. No other supplier and the earthquake in Japan shut down their sources.

Dealership has been great to work with but I don't care about service above them. I am nervous about parts, I bought it new and only had it for 6 months before it died. TIPM model number is only for 2010.
Due to lack of response from Chrysler I now have legal representation and I live in CA.
Too bad I love the wrangler-it was set up perfect.

I talked to the dealership today and no shipping dates from them. I am really bumed out - 9 weeks and counting.

My wife convinced me to take a trip to the redwoods in northern CA next weekend - good chance to drive the jeep with the top off and enjoy a little scenery. Trip has been planed since Feb. Now I get to drive in a Prius (wife's car aka golf cart). I wish I could stay home but too much money already spent. Can it get any worse?

Good news is that lawyer indicated Chrysler received our lemon law request.

radtype was this your first problem with your jeep? Thanks for sharing info. I am going to have the attorney contact them once I hit 30 day's off road which is next week. Have a good trip if you can, I totally understand.

Out of the shop at day 75

The TIPM for my 2010 Wrangler (4400 miles) was installed yesterday after 74 days and I picked it up today (day 75). I was hoping to see a shiney Wrangler waiting for me but all they did was hit the big dust/dirt with a hose.
I was unsure if I wanted to keep the existing car - hoping to drool over the car once again but ...... I'll have to see what lemon law offers me.

A little advise for anyone who needs a lemon law attorney Google Herman & moss. I had a buyback through Chrysler and they were very good. The best part is I didn't have to pay them a dime. Chrysler has to pay your legal fees in lemon law cases

Wow. Me too.

Waiting a month for my JK 2008 TIPM module while my car sits in the driveway. I would trade it in for something else, if there was something else besides a pickup.

I opened a ticket with Chrysler complaints -- 1-800-992-1997. Get the part number, the order number and have your VIN number ready. -- You could also ask your service guys for the name of the franchise owner if you want to make them nervous, might help.
