Passenger seat not reclining

So I sat in the passenger seat of my Jeep for the first time today and got the little surprise.

My wife finally agreed to try and drive the Jeep on the way home from my parents. I went to recline the seat b/c she sits straight up in any car/truck/Jeep she is in.

I pulled the handle up but only the right side is giving way. It seems like the left side is locked in place still.

Is this something I can fix or I have to take it to the stealership?

is/was it up as far as it can go? if not, try moving it forward and then push it back.

That was my first instinct. It is almost at a 90 degree angle. I lift the handle and it feels like the right side(closet to the door) has some movement but the left side is locked down.

Will not budge.

Happened on my sisters Mini Cooper and it was a $2 cable that came loose or snapped.

id take the seat out and inspect the reclining mechanism to see if its something like that. if you cant figure it out on your own dont tell the dealership you tried to find out what was going on...they will probably try to put the blame on you somehow. they like doing things like that

It it's under warranty, take it in, that's what you paid for.

I know that but it is just finding the time to sit and wait there.

I thought maybe it was a known issue or quirk that someone else had.

I did go and take a closer look. The handle is connected to a rod that goes through the joint that connects the upper and lower seat pieces. When you turn the handle it will turn easily through both but it looks like the joint is bound up or stuck somehow in the inner joint.

I hate going to service appts.

I'm having the exact same problem as described. Did you ever fix the problem? If so, how?
I know I'm like a plunger, bringing up old crap.
