Pavement Ends Emergency Tops

Anyone have any feedback on these for a JKU? Also, anyone know of any source for the JKU 2011 model?

Thanks!

The Pavement Ends Emergency Top is a very cool thing, IF you understand its limitations.

If you think it's a cheap substitute for a soft top, you're going to be disappointed.

It was designed for those days when you do a trail run, and start out topless. But then, weather kicks in and you desperately need some cover. It was designed here in Colorado, and that's a common thing in our high country. It can be sunny and awesome, but then you can get sudden hail and snow, even in August.

Having one of these Emergency Tops can help you get down off the mountain safely.

Disclaimer: Pavement Ends is Bestop's "little sister" company.

Thanks Geoff! That was exaclty what I was looking for. Something I can just have under the back seat for when I take the hard top off to run about (without converting over to the soft top) and get hit by unplanned rain.

My softtop plan (other than the factory soft top I have) is to go with the Trektop NX once that is released for the 2011 JKU. Don't guess there has been a reconsideration of producing this in the "spice" color? Doesn't hurt to ask ...

Also, on my original question, does this emergency top fit the 2011 JKU or do we need a new version?

07-11 are all the same. 56815-01 is part number for JKU.

No, it's never going be made in spice. It keeps the costs way down to have it in just one color.

Great information Geoff, thanks! It makes sense based on what you described and sounds like it will work well in that environment. Do you think it is appropriate for "city" driving in an emergency? I was looking to get one in case I got hit by a shower while out and about which could be some highway driving or just regular side streets. I know it is not the soft top but would it be adequate to get you through until you could get home or is it just not meant for that type of use. Thanks for the help and insight!
