PDR quote for cowl/mirror dent

I finally got my first cowl dent from my door swinging open (pic attached). Had a mobile PDR company quote me and they said $350 plus $1/mile to get to me. Seriously?!? They said it's deep and strectched.

I remember having a mobile PDR company pull some dings out of a previous car I had, and it literally took the guy 15 minutes...and there's a ton of room behind the Jeep cowl for them to get tools in.

Is this a reasonable price? I told them no thanks, but just want to check with those who had this done on their Jeep. Also, I don't want to cover it up, so getting it repaired is something I'd like to do.

Thank in advance.

Might be cheaper for you to try removing that panel yourself, tapping out the dent as best you can, remounting the panel, and adding a cowl shield over it.

How difficult is it to remove the cowl?

Sounds high to me, like an actual body shop price. Try getting another quote, or see if you can take the jeep to him for a better price. I had a ding taken out of the door of my mustang a couple years ago for $100. I met him while he was doing work at a local ford dealer.

Just had another shop quote me $125. Think I'll go that route. They said they get a lot of these Jeep mirror dings.

Edit: the guy who will be doing the job just called and said it looks bigger than normal, but he'll try to repair it...guess I'll see what happens...

I'm not sure. I've never had to remove mine. I've only had my JKU for about a month now and haven't taken the doors off yet.

FYI, if the guy "tries" it and makes it worse or cracks the paint then the original Guy's bid of $350 might sound like a deal. But my opinion is biased, I'm a PDR guy, lol.

I suggest doing some research before committing to a repair guy, look for reviews on the PDR company. Ask the body shop that gave you the low quote the actual name of the PDR company doing the work so you can research them.

Good Luck

Those are very nice!!

Are the graphics cut out of the metal or are they painted on?

Well the guy said he couldn't get it to pop. The body shop I was at quoted me $275 total to fix and repaint so I'm just going to go with that since they're reputable and it seems like a really fair price. Sucks they need my Jeep for a couple days though.

Guess they didn't have to replace the cowl. They just stripped, repaired and repainted. Matches well IMO. Lesson learned with removing doors! Just glad it was only a $275 mistake.
