People really complain about the ride?

Now, I've owned a few cars in my short existence.

1998 Land Rover Discovery
1998 Saab 900 Turbo
1994 Saab 9000 Turbo
2009 Subaru Forester XT

And in the family we've had
Jeep Commander
1999 & 2001 Saab 9-3 convertibles
2005 Saab 9-3 sedan
a 1994 Jeep Wrangler
2007 FJ Cruiser
2003 Honda CR-V
2012 Volvo C30
and a few others...

And I have to say, my 2013 Jeep Wrangler has to have the best ride of any of these... Maybe not "handling" wise - but over bumps its a champ.

Maybe it's because we don't pave our roads more than once ever 20 years up here in Maine - but man, this thing irons out bumps that would shatter your spine in the other cars.

Maybe the FJ is a little smoother... But the wrangler conquers bad pavement, potholes and speedbumps like a champ.

my wife's '14 CX5 handles like a champ but for bumping on down the road, the wrangler is super comfortable. also, i like how you have a full sitting profile. my legs while not on the pedals can sit in an actual L shape. every car and most crossovers they are bent.

I would respectfully disagree. Ive owned many cars as well, from a Cavalier in high school to many different SUVs (Grand Cherokees, Yukon, Avalanche, Explorer) and the ride in my 13 Sahara is rougher than about all of them.

But I am not complaining. I bought a Jeep. I didnt buy it for the smooth ride....

I just dropped my tire pressure down from the recommended 37 psi to about 32 and the ride got considerably smoother on the BFG kms.

Really? Do you have a JK or an Unlimited?

I have owned over 13 vehicles in my life. And they range from compacts to full size sedans to sports cars. My 12' Sahara Unlimited is the BEST riding vehicle I have ever owned hands down! When I take people for rides, they are amazed at how smooth it is. They always say "I thought Jeeps rode really rough?" I haven't ridden in or drove a JK so I am not sure how much difference there is. One of my buddies has a cousin with a JK and he said my Unlimited rides a lot smoother.

Although I don't own a jeep yet, almost every vehicle I have owned has been a 4X4 truck. On the occasion I drive a sedan with it's alleged super comfy ride, I'll feel like the car is wobbling all over the place. I'll take a firm ride any day. The same is true for motorcycles. I am used to a dirt bike and any street bike feels way too soft.

I guess it all comes down to what you are used to.

I am going to have to disagree with the smooth ride of the Wrangler as well. I am not complaining, and I did not buy it for ride quality. We have a Volvo XC 70 and a VW Jetta as well. The Wrangler is a distant third in handling and ride quality on the road. I have changed shocks, springs and lifted. The ride has always been what I expect from a Jeep, be it stock or modified.

I have driven mostly luxury cars..and when not in a car I have had a high end truck. 2006 F-150 Lariat and 2011 Avalanche LTZ. No the Jeep does not ride anywhere near as well as these vehicles but it does ride much better than I expected it to. I dont try to compare the Jeep to my other vehicles as far as a luxury ride but it is certainly not a bad ride.

I have had several vehicles and have been in a lot ( used to valet park at a casino). I am mot going to come on here and say my kk or jku rides better than any car I have been in, we all know that would be a lie. But in the condition I deal with on a day to day basis, the jk and jku are better rides that 90% + of the vehicles I have been in. I have been in a lot of 4x4 vehicles. But cor any 4x4 with a solid front axle, the jk/u takes top honors. Solid axle rides give ip a little to ifs on the road. But jeep did very well with this and it does ride far superior to its predecessors.
