PIAA Sports Horns 400Hz & 500Hz photos

PIAA Sports Horns. 400HZ & 500HZ. Part #85110. Installed on 2011 Wrangler.

Nice, loud, "american car" sounding horns. Much, much better than the wimpy, single, low-tone horn that comes with the Wrangler. Search youtube for sound clips.

I removed the original, stock horn and installed the PIAA 400HZ, low-note horn in the original horn's location.

I installed the PIAA, 500Hz, high-note horn on an existing bolt just behind the windshield washer reservoir.

I used 18-14 gauge, quick splice, blue wire connectors. Just connect the second horn's wires to the original factory horn wires.

I like the horns, but I don't like the computer-controlled horn delay (which has nothing to do with the new horns). There is a split-second delay between when you hit the horn button, until the horn actually sounds. Really annoys me.

Does your 2011 have this delay also?

Awesome photos, I just got the same horns delivered today and can't wait to install them. Beside the wire and the quick splice connectors, did you need any type of mounting bracket for the second horn?

No. Both PIAA horns come with their own mounting bracket. The kit also comes with wires, that have the same connectors as the original factory horn. Easy wiring job. You just have to plug in the two wires to the second horn, and connect those same two wires to the original factory wiring with those quick-splice connectors.

You guys dont have dual horns as stock? We have the one behind the headlight then a second different frequency horn on the bolts from the end of the chassis that hold the front bumper on. Might be an export only thing?

Only one, wimpy, low-note horn on the US Wranglers.

Nice write up. With all of the talk of horns recently I purchased one myself last night from Amazon warehouse for $34.99 shipped.

I have to say again that I really like these horns after putting them in a few months ago. What caused me to look for an upgrade was the tractor trailer rolling back, and I did give him a lot of room, and the stock horn was like blowing a kazoo at him. Fortunately, he stopped on his own. The PIAA's will definately come in handy.

Btw. This won't affect the fact that when I hit the lock button on the key, it honks right?? I'd like it to keep doing that.

Adding a second horn should not make any changes to your lock button. The second horn is just added to the same circuit as the original horn.

Enjoy!

I had the horns in my garage for about six months. Finally did this yesterday. Thanks for the great install instrux. The photos really help and the info on the parts and splicers is great. The most difficult part for me was getting to the T-20 torx holding the original horn in place.

Where were these splicers when I was butchering wires in the 80's doing 'hack' car stereo installs for my HS friends in their beaters?

Finally did this too - both horns attached to the same T-20 screw with a spacer off of the bracket it attaches to.
