Picked this "Red Rock" up Friday night

It's been raining like crazy here but I've managed to take the T-tops off 2 days in a row for a little while. It also has the "add-a-trunk". That's going to come in handy...I can see already the top won't be on much. Thanks to all of you, reading all your threads helped with research and many questions I have had.

um..........AZ, I know what 4x2 means. I did not know the new JK was offered in 2WD. :chair:
So, why on earth is the "TEXAS OFF ROAD" Edition a 2WD...........the HOLLYWOOD Edition OK, MALL Edition, but not the Texas edition.....

BTW it is a beautiful jeep.

Nice color
So is the car 2 or 4 wheel drive? off road edition does seem odd for a 2 wheel drive car.

It is 2 wheel drive. Offroad can be sand or whatever. This will be enough for me. It's got the limted slip differential, all I ever do is sand...lots and lots of sand. Never had problems getting stuck with my 2wd Avalanches either.

You didn't know that JK's were offered in 2WD? I know a couple of people up here (old people) that have 2WD JK's.

News to me. Were the CJ, YJ or TJ ever offered in 2WD, if so I've never seen one.
The Mail Jeep is the last 2WD I remember.

Sorry for the hi-jack JEEPers.

On a 4 door JK, 4wd is an OPTION, not the other way around :chair: I never understood it either.. its actually one of the only reasons I don't like the JK...

Nice Jeep man, it really does look pretty, and atleast its gonna get used as a Jeep, regardless of its equipment! Thumbs up!

I think it's kind of cool to have the Texas symbol on the side of the jeep. Sort of makes it a unique vehicle.

Many Jeeps here in so cal are 2WD. I'd say just less than 1/2 of them. I believe the "X" designation has to do with generation "X"...who they marketed the "X" version for. Makes since then that some of them are 2WD.

(edit:This is just my thoughts as I have nothing to back it up.)

I too love that color....that's why I bought mine in that color.

No - The JK Unlimited is the first factory optional 4x4 Wrangler. All CJ, YJ, & TJ were standard 4WD. XJ/ZJ/MJ were optional 4WD's... but the JK Unlimited is the first Warngler.

This 2wd will get lifted. Yes, boys & girls you can lift a 2wd. Same kit as a 4wd, you just end up with a couple of parts left over. To each his own, right?

If you're taking about the JK, maybe, but I don't believe wranglers have ever been only 2WD before.

And yeah, that color is smoking. I love it.

That is a very sharp color. Glad you got a Jeep, and hope you have a lot of good times, with it.

How many sections does the top come off in?

(and always to each his own Jeepers, that's what's nice about this community)

Three sections. The driver and front passenger splits down the middle(like T-tops). Then from the speaker bar back is one shell.

Jeepers: Picking up my 4 door Red Rock on Monday. (Georgous Color) Also getting a hard top and was wondering what is involved in removing the 2 section front portion. Easy to remove and reinstall? Will they fit behind the passenger seat? I'm Stoked!

The Front sections of the Freedom top are a Piece of cake to take off and put back on. They fit in the cargo area just fine.

Nice Jeep... I wouldnt call the "4x2" an "Option" though. You buy the jeep as a 4x2 or 4x4 then option itout from there....
