Picked up my JK last night

So god damn cool - I love it. I ended up with:

Unlimited Rubicon - black w/charcoal grey leather
Dual top group
Media Center NAV
Remote Start
Tow Group

Now for the bad news -I had knee surgery today so I get to stare at it in my garage for the next 6-8 weeks.

I've had 0 time to lay with it at all, but one quick question. When I open the back up, there is that big rolled up thing blocking half of the cargo area (I'm assuming that's part of the soft top). Is there some better way I can move it or store it so that I have full access to the cargo area?

I got it home late last night and had to be at the hospital at 6:30 this morning. I'm just now coming out of my vicodin haze, so I haven't looked at anything.

Good Luck with the new rig!
You might actually have to remove the hardtop to get the soft top off completely.

That is in fact the recommended procedure. The soft top is there for storage purposes only and should be removed to prevent damage to it.

You do have to remove the hardtop to get the softtop out. There's a short and easy-to-follow section in the manual that shows exactly what you need to do to remove the softtop. With two friends (or one strong one) you can do the whole process in 30 minutes or less with Torx #30 and #40 drivers. Of course, this does not include the amount of time you spend driving around without the top on "just to see how it looks". Have something soft like a blanket to put the hardtop on when you remove it so you don't gunk up the seal at the bottom.

I'm heading out to sign the paperwork on my Unlimited tonight, although it won't be delivered until next week...Arrgghh. I'm getting the dual tops as well, so good to hear this advice. Congratulations, and get better soon so you can go out and have some fun!

I'm sitting here in a recliner with nothing to do other than shop for parts. I need some recommendations on rock rails. I don't want to end up with some POS ones that start rusting or something.

Does anyone have any feedback on these:

Been driving for a few days now - absolutely LOVE this thing.

My only complaint is the rolled up soft top in the back. Are you guys sure it comes out somehow? It seems to be bolted to the bars. I'm still not good enough to try taking off the hard top, but I've poked around back there and it seems like it's bolted on. Nothing in the manual or DVD about how to completely remove it.

Take it to the dealer and have them remove it and put it in the trunk for you....... They should be able to handle that..... I made them put the soft top up on mine before I left the lot so if they broke it or something was wrong it was not my issue.......
