Smile Picked Up My New 2010 JK Unlimited Today

Well, finally got to pick up my 2010 Unlimited Islander. First set of "mods" was to remove all the decals on the jeep except for the little Tiki Dude- at least for now.

Passed by 4 other Jeeps on the way home today and got the Jeep wave all 4 times. Pretty cool. Took the freedom panels off today- the kids had a blast.

What a great Jeep, heard many of the posts regarding the motor- not the fastest out there but surely not the worst either. I felt it held it's own pretty well.

One question though- it seems to idle a little rough (in the 500 rpm range). Is this normal, can i chalk it up to being just a Jeep thing??

Thanks again for all the informative posts- I attached a few pics. What should I do to it next???

Congrats on your new Islander. The first thing that I would do to it is get it dirty.
IOW, go play.

Congrats, I bought my wife a Sahara last month and I can't get enough (of the Jeep), I'm always steeling the keys and tweaking/modding it. We both love it.

You're not the first, but for the life of me I can't understand why someone would buy an Islander and then remove the stickers.

I'm not sure if I am happy with the fact that I removed my Islander decals. With the exception of the seats and the bigger tires (and the extra 5gal fuel tank), nothing really sets it apart from the other Jeeps.

Removing Decals

Jaggo, Jrose, Jimbox-

I was looking for a sport to begin with. But, the dealer couldn't find me one with a 6 spd, dual tops, and side airbags. He finally called and said he couldn't find a sport, but has an Islander that meets my criteria. I like the upgraded wheels, MT's, and the interior. I just wasn't crazy about the decals and since it's not what I originally wanted- I removed them.

I also wasn't willing to wait 12-18 weeks for delivery of a new one.

Anyway, I'm happy with it- having alot of fun. The kids really like it too!!

Just out of curiousity, was there much of a price difference ??

You have a 4 dr don't you? If so that's why you have the larger tank, not because of the Islander. Everything but the seats could have been optioned on a Sport.

@ Jimbo

The Islander option was about $1,100- upgraded wheels, 32" MT's, Upgraded suspension, and interior seats. Oh yea, those decals too.

I picked up my new Unlimited Sahara last week in Flame Red and had a blast this weekend. For Mother's Day my wife wanted to go out and get dirty, so we took a little road trip with the family and found a some cool roads and fields to get our feet wet. My wife was talking trash to me because I refused to take it up some hills that looked a little too steep at this point. At least let me make my first payment before I roll it. The best part of the whole thing was looking in the rearview mirror and seeing my three daughters in the back seat, including the 19 month old in her car seat, all giggling and laughing as we bounced along the dirt and rocks. The Jeep sure looked nice when I drove it off the lot, but looks even better with dirt on it! It was also a lot of fun with all the waves and thumbs up I was getting from complete strangers. Man do I love this Jeep!
