Pics of Duratracs on stock wheels

Finally pulled the trigger on some new rubber for my '10 Jeep. I kept my stock "Fred Flintstone" wheels for now. Original tires were 225/55/16. I may be wrong on the 55 part. I went with 285/75/16 Duratracs.

These tires make a real improvement over the stock go-cart tires! They are super quite, they handle almost as good as stock (only difference is I can tell there is lots more rubber under me, the ride is unchanged) and make the Jeep look like it should have when I bought it!!

I have not tried them off-road yet, but in the rain they are excellent! I've purposely hit standing water just to test them. These tires fill the wheel well up nicely. I have a slight rub on the left sway bar at full, hard right turn. Very minor. I believe this is from the sidewall tread on the Duratracs. So here's some pics:

Thanks Red. I agree totally. Tires make all the difference both in looks and performance. I'm considering painting the wheels black. A buddy tells me no that they match the color of the Jeep. Hmmnnn.... decisions, decisions...

The loss of power is not too bad. Considering the overall improvement with the tires I can deal with it. The only time I have noticed it is going over tall bridges and some over-passes on the freeway. Rpm's start getting low and I'll just downshift into 5th. Trust me it's worth it!

I always felt like 6th gear on the manual tranny was mire like overdrive anyway. I always downshifted to pass others even with stock set-up.

Looks much better! For your sway bar rubbing, look into adding a washer or two to your steering stops.

Thanks 4fit. I had read about the washer trick in another thread. Seems that some people had luck with that and some didn't. Wheel spacers would work too correct? Or when I do finally install new wheels I'm thinking the backspacing will prevent that?
Anyway as I said it's very minor. And the way I drive I usually don't turn the wheel all the way till it stops. The way I discovered it was in the parking lot just to see if I could get max turn with no rub.

Yes, spacers or new wheels with less backspacing would work as well.

I have the 3.21's according to my window sticker. But I also have the tow hook on the rear bumper. And I thought I read on here somewhere that if you had the tow hook then it was likely your gear ratio was 3.73 or 3.75. Can't remember off hand which it is.

I know re-gearing would help out but budget ain't ready for that yet.

Yea you be correct! It's really not an issue for me personally. I expected a little loss of power anyway. Through the lower gears I don't see any noticeable change. Only cruising at 70 in 6th gear has it effected anything. The people at Chrysler didn't intend for us to have any power anyway or they would hive us a Hemi or diesel option right?
