There is a link on Youtube that has you simply using a plastic grocery bag.

Thanks for the post, I just bought the same vehicle and did plasti on all,of the interior silver pieces, they look great....my next step was to try thw wheels but now I see them in black, I may have them powder coated, also had the dealer reverse the tires, not a fan of the raised white letters.
Also took the silver bumper covers off, much better look.

Finally finished mine. Here's a shot comparing dipped to non-dipped:

And both dipped

I think I used 3 cans for all 5 wheels. One wasn't even finished but the cap clogged up and blew off

Looks great, I have the same wheels on my 2013 that I dipped black. They turned out really nice, but I am having trouble around the lip of the wheel where it meets the tire. I sprayed and oversprayed onto the tire then let dry and it peeled off nicely, but some spots on the lip pulled up. Did you have this problem? I bought the liquid dip and a small artist paintbrush and was going to touch up the spots, but the dip would stick to those spots like the spray does.

Yes, I had the same problem too . I just left it as is. It didn't bother me too much.

So, do you plasti dip just the outside(front facing)? or the inside part of the wheel too? (using only 3 cans?)

I used a tooth pick to score around the lip of the rim after it had dried a bit.

I only did the front. Taped over the opening from the back.

Love that color on the TJ. Wheels really compliment it.

Did any of you guys take the wheel weights off the outside of the rim before plasti-dipping them or just left them in place?

I left the weights on. I asked a bunch of people and they told me that the plasti dip wouldn't affect the balance...and it hasn't. I actually just re-dipped the rims this weekend because the edges were bothering me. I took my time and made sure that I sprayed a light coating all around the inner edge where the wheel meets the tire then I sprayed a light coating over the whole face. I did about 8-10 light coats and they turned out much better and smoother than the first time I dipped them. I sprayed the inside of the rim too bc I didn't like the way it looked being silver.

For those dipping with the tires still on the Jeep.. What do you cover the lug nuts with? Just tape them off?

I actually dipped the lug nuts too--I liked the way they look all black. If you do like that look and need to change the tire, you can easily turn the lug and then re-spray the lug when you get a new tire.

Awesome, thanks man! I suppose I could just peel off the dip on the lug nuts if I don't like it too

I just ordered the stuff today and can't wait to get this done. I am thinking about getting the wheels rebalanced prior to dipping them and having the weights put only on the inside. Also, do you guys think I should take the center cap out and spray it separately or leave it in. I am worried about if I have to remove the center cap, the plasti dip peeling from the rest of the rim.

I dipped with my wheels off.
I used quarters on tape in the lug nut holes.
I left my center cap on....I can't see myself taking it off anytime soon. That was 5 or 6 months ago.

Ok cool, the only one I would have to do is my spare since my bike rack uses the center hole of the rim, Unless I say screw it and leave it silver. Decisions Decisions haha
