I don't know if I would recommend you using plastidip on your lights to black them out. I blacked out my lights as well (on the fenders and the turn signals on the grill) but I used VHT nightshade paint ($5 a can on amazon) with excellent results. Plastidip is not light permeable.

if you look at the thread i made i put up a picture of it with the light blinking and it shone through brightly, i barely sprayed any on there but just enough to make it appear like it was coated only about 2 quick sprays and its just fine, when i go into work on Monday (coast guard) we share a building with the PA state police so ill ask them about it and if its a no go ill just peel it off!

Somewhat still on topic...If you tape off an area, how does peeling off the tape affect the spray? Do you have to score the edge of the tape with a razor knife first to avoid peeling off the spray?

Thanks.

I would definitely score the edge with a razor just to be safe. Fixing to do that to mine right now hopefully.

NOO! dont put a blade to your paint. peel the tape off within 5 mins of painting and its perfect. i did this when i did a bunch of stuff on my jeep and it worked well. if you let the paint dry with the tape still on, you will pull the paint off.

I wasn't sure how many coats I was going to end up putting on. I put my last coat on last night and wasn't sure if I would add another coat this morning or not. Went out there, scored the tape, peeled it off without a single issue. Normally I would agree with you, but in my case, it wasn't an option.

Have any of you tried it on a JK plastic chrome grille and pulled it back off. The wife's wanting to try it but afraid it will mess up the chrome.

What temps can this work in? I want to do it but its C O L D here. Also, anyone who did their wheels could you kindly give us an update? How's it holding up?

I just got back to MA early this AM from Santa Monica CA and while there I saw many JK Wrangler Sport's like mine (but no Sahara Tan ) with black wheels. In a car crazy town they really looked sharp and stood out.

The chrome is just as smooth as paint. Wipe it down with alcohol and go nuts. Maybe it will want an extra coat, even two extra coats, but I don't see why it couldn't work.

When in doubt, caution on the side of adding more coats. Had mine on for a few weeks now and it's holding on strong

Curious as to what you mean by that. Can you not get it off??

Just implying that here in florida the grille takes a good beating from bugs, etc. and there's no noticeable impact to the plasti dip. I have no intention of removing it anytime soon!

How will that hold up after a day out in the mud then going through the Big Brush car wash?

I honestly don't know how it would hold up against a car wash, but if you wash the vehicle yourself it won't rub off. It holds pretty well.

Looks good - What is the "cap" at the top of your grill? I've never seen that before.

Damn! I've heard many here on WF talking about PlastiDip, but had no idea it was that easy to apply and looked that good! Enroute to Home Depot for a can (or 3).

Can you also PlastiDip interior plastic pieces such as door panels, etc??

I don't see why not. I would test it in an inconspicuous area first tho.

PlastiDip'd the grill last night & love the results. After some trial & error and a couple mistakes, I'm pretty confident that you can PlastiDip anything & everything. Going to attempt the interior door panels today if I can find the time.

Question for the long time users of PlastiDip - can it withstand the automatic carwash okay? The brushes at the at the one I use are a soft lambs wool, not at all harsh or stiff. I put about 4 or 5 coats on & it seems really durable, but I wasn't sure...

Thanks!

It peels right off with absolutely no effects to the factory paint what so ever.

In fact, as I was just finishing up with my 4th and final coat on my grill, some debris from the driveway blew into the garage and completely jacked mine up - so I was forced to start over. In 10 mins time I had completely peeled off all of the PlastiDip from the grill and it looked exactly as it did before I started. That's what makes it such an all around great product - the look & finish is great, and it can be easily undone if so desired... so go for it!

I will post a picture of mine shortly...

While spraying it last night I was a little skeptical about the results but I woke up this a.m. after it fully dried and have to say that it looks really good. Great product. XHD bumper going on later today.
