For me, the purpose was to improve the look of the floor after taking the carpet out so as not to deal with wet carpet from a passenger side leak. I eventually want it bedlined, so I really have no plans for more carpet. However, it could definitely go back if I wanted it to.

So how is the Plasti Dip holding up on the floor? I am pretty sure I am going to do this too, just checking back periodically to see how its is working out....

It's only been in for a week and hardly gets any traffic, but so far so good. No change.

The thing is it only cost $5, took no effort to prep, and peals out like a sticker if I don't like it. So really, I almost can't ever be unhappy with it. Unless it starts to look ratty, it's just going to stay there until I line the interior for real.

im soon going to get palstidip to do my rims, but if this keeps the water in without a chance of rust i might remove my carpeting, hows the noise/ traction?

I wouldn't recommend a lot of traffic on this stuff--you can peel it up with your finger nail. A real liner like Line-X, Monstaliner, Herculiner, Raptor Liner, etc. would be better suited for real "use." Of course, you can always just try it--nothing to lose really. And I might be underestimating its durability as this is the first time I've used it.

I'll try to grab some. The short of it is that the footwell--with the floor mat in place--looks the same. If you pic up the floor mat (the heavy Mopar slush mats, which have some rough edges and corners underneath) you can see some spots where the weight of the floor mat rubs or vibrates and has worn back through the plasti-dip to the blue paint.

I could of course spray the spots with another coat of plasti-dip but . . . m'eh. They'll just wear through again, and the paint underneath still has the clear coat and everything on it (recall I did NO prep work), so there's no more risk of rusting than had I just never sprayed the plasti-dip in the first place. With the mats in, it still looks great. Much better than the all blue floor wells.

I've only done my passenger side foot well at this point, as the carpet elsewhere doesn't get damp after rain storms. Eventually when I decide to pull all the carpet (either because it gets damp or just starts to look tired), I still plan to actually bedline the whole interior.

Well, water collects there in mine too. My plan has long been just to pull the carpet and bedline it, but this is a multi-day project I don't have the time to do right. (Like this great job with Monstaliner here.)

So I decided to take a shortcut temporary fix. There is almost ZERO prep involved.

All I did was remove the carpet and drain plugs from the offending area, clean it out with a damp paper towel, dry it out with a dry paper towel, hit it with four coats of spray-on Plasti-Dip, then put down my slush mat.

No sanding the clear coat. No chiseling out the sound deadener. No rollers, brushes, or pump or pressurized sprayers. No primer. Heck, I didn't even tape off anything to avoid overspray. I just used an eraser to rub any oversprayed Plasti-Dip off of the console area, and it came off perfectly. If I don't like it or it starts to look ratty, I can either spray on more to touch it up or just peel it out like rubber (see here on removal).

Total cost: $5. I expect it'll hold up okay until I'm ready to commit to a full on bedlining project.

Just thought I'd share.
