You're talking about chrome rims... don't do it. Small pieces of chrome like emblems are no big deal. Large items like rims that are NOT chromed are no big deal. Large items like chrome rims are BAD!! Trust me. I have plasti-dipped many things with success, including the silver rims on the Jeep. I have plasti-dipped the chrome rims on my Avalanche three different times and each time it peels, I'm assuming because it doesn't stick well to the large surface that is so slick. The dip on the Jeep peeled at one point as well. I loved the look so I used bed liner and it the bed liner has been far more durable. I don't get half panicked every time I go through a carwash and someone sprays the rims now.

Why plasti-dip and not wheel paint? I've used satin black wheel paint on my motorcycle wheels, and that stuff lasts forever, never chips, and always looks good -- even on dirtbike wheels.

The jeep is the easiest dip I have done thus far. With the fenders off, which is easy to do btw, the dip isn't bad to lay down. Price depends on the dip color and where you buy it. If you want even more details, pm me. I will gladly help, I know people think plastidip isn't a good way to go but I have changed my jk color 3x already and my original paint is protected. Plus when I hit the trails it protects the paint and its a breeze to clean.

I plasti dipped my Xterra a few months ago (just acquired my jeep) in OD green,

It took me a day and a half to do it completely by myself... I wish I'd have had someone else to help me though. the body had about 4 coats or so, the rims had 5, as did the bumpers/roof rack.

If you are going to do it, take your time. tape off EVERYTHING, don't get lazy (I did) even with my laziness it came out really nice. I did not disassemble parts as I should have, as I was alone, and only had a few days off of work. I also DID NOT thoroughly clean any part that I dipped, the rack, rims, and bumpers were dipped for over a year, held up perfectly.

Some hints- Don't do it by yourself if you can help it (unless you have alot of time), Don't do it when it's windy, ORDER MORE PAINT THAN YOU THINK YOU'D NEED!!! (I ran out when I was about 3/4 done, the roof remained yellow for a few days.), don't rush, I had to redo a door because I wasn't paying enough attention and the pain ran on me. Hope this helps, if anyone needs more info I'd be more than happy to help.

Plastidip is a quick , easy way to change the look of your Jeep... I love it.

Before

After some plasti - madness.... So much better. Well worth the $25 it cost and hour of time to do it.
Rockers, wheels, etc... next up will be the grill.

Did all the trim and wheels on my Expedition too. Totally great stuff. Had it on for years, no problems.

I have a buddy that plasti dipped his entire TJ last year. Has had no issues to date. Minor peeling in wear and tear areas, but just requires an easy respray.
