Hey everyone. I know that its a fairly common occurrence on jeep wranglers for people to fold out their windshield wipers and then open their hood into them, thus scratching the hood. If anyone has any pictures of what these scratches look like, could you please post them? The more the better - I need them for a small claims case that has been filed against me. Even better would be a short video that shows how this happens. Thanks so much!

I was debating..... Should I go out and grab my windshield wipers and give them a yank, lift my hood and video tape the ensuing scratching but then I thought, "Hey, that's a lot to ask".

So I didn't.

I am guessing this is the next step for the people who dent both their cowls with their doors.:)

I don't know why anyone would leave their wipers folded out. I lift mine to clean the windshield and change the blades only and they are put back as soon as I am done. It would be right up there with slamming your own hand in the car door. It just does not seem possible unless you are drunk or high.

I'm impressed that many people admitted to it, or trolled... I guess I can't imagine a reason in which I would ever have my wipers up (cleaning or replacing) at the same time my hood would be up (fluid changes, maintenence). Greasy and dirty hands and wrenches could go great with clean towels and windex I suppose........

Sounds like you worked on a Jeep and the owner got pissed with some scratches? You could always offer to show them how these scratches would actually look like through a live demonstration...

Let me get this straight. You believe there is someone out here that actually videotaped themselves doing this act? And would admit to it? And would volunteer that information for a complete stranger's court case?

Oh sign me up. You just wait right there and I'll be right back.

If you give us the full story someone is more likely to help you out. Although I do doubt anyone has a video of it.

Keyboard warrior here.

I didn't see that you said you didn't do the damage.

My assumption is that owner blamed you for something HE did prior.

My apologies. Once I had it in my mind that it was one way I was just troopin along with that.

It's the internet, we're all basically Chuck Norris right?

Good luck at court. If you're dealing with someone who thinks the entire world owes him peanuts I feel your pain. Been burned by people like that. Hence my reaction.

This is the most mature post I think i've ever seen someone make on the internet. Thank you, I appreciate it.

The bottom line is this - the business I own installed speakers in a lady's jeep, didn't touch the hood or wipers. Shes now claiming we caused scratches that are pretty clearly from the actions described above. I was just trying to get similar pictures to have evidence for the judge to compare to.

Did mine while washing the Jeep. Forgot the wipers were pulled away from the windscreen and opened the hood to see if I needed to spray the engine down.

Two, quick scratches - yep, felt the dumb ass attack.

Happened to me too while I was washing mine. Whoops. Freaked me out to begin with since I hadn't had my wrangler but a few weeks. They weren't too deep and waxed them out. Still hurt my pride a little. Much more careful while washing it now.

Lights come up and the camera zooms in as a smallish young man stands at the podium and sheepishly announces, "Hello my name is _______ and I have scratched my Jeep hood with my wipers"

Group : "Hi ________"

and so goes the monthly meeting of Hood scratchers anonymous.

Here is a moneymaking Idea, I thought of it and will split the money with whoever makes it. Lets make a hood protector that stops the wipers from scratching it or a device that makes sure the wipers are touching the windshield before you can open the hood !

SCRATCHLESS HOODS MATTER
