Plunger switch under the hood

What does this switch go to?

Looks like it oughtta be to a hood light, but I dont have a hood light on my jku Sahara (odd).

Any chance it could be a switch to trigger a warning that the hood isn't secured?

I keep pushing on it and nothing happens...no lights...no horns...no giggles...nada.

Perhaps its my technique......

That is a kill switch for the remote start. If the engine is remote started, then lifting the hood would trigger that and turn off the engine automatically. Safety feature.

Bingo. It also works to prevent remote start from being activated if the hood is already up.

Simply put: If for any reason the hood is up = remote start no worky.
