Please, if your situation meets the requirements for the poll, VOTE! I'm still under 3K miles and have no noticeable tick, so I cannot vote yet. The more votes we get, the clearer the picture will become as to how prevalent the head problem really is.

How to be sure if you have " The Tick".

You can go to Harbor Frieght and buy their stethoscope. With your jeep running put the probe end of the stethoscope on your right valve cover listening at different points up and down your valve cover. Then do the same thing on the left valve cover. If it has the ticking problem you will here it. It will be obvious. Mine ticks about middle to the front of the left vlave cover. Build date of Sept. 2011. 2012 Rubi with 2600 miles and ticking.

Still far from a statistically valid survey, of course, but I think this poll gives us a little clearer picture as to how prevalent the head problem is than we had before. The more votes we get, the more meaningful the poll will become.

OK, 12.5% of the people responding to the poll have confirmed head problems. That's one out of eight Jeeps.

Who knows what the real frequency is, but one out of eight is EXTREMELY high and I sure hope this is not indicative of the true rate of failure.

Let's get some more votes!

I haven't responded simply because my '12 only has 3k miles on it. I could say its fine today, and get ticking next week.

Same here. I haven't voted yet either because of having less than 5K miles on my Jeep.

I didn't see any sense having people vote who were not having a problem when they didn't have enough miles on their Jeeps to really know if they were going to have the problem or not. I'm not sure if I did the right thing by having a category for people with less than 10K miles without a problem.

I hope everyone realizes that it is OK to vote if you have confirmed head problems no matter how few miles are on your Jeep. It's only the people who do not have confirmed head problems who are supposed to wait until they have at least 5K miles before voting.

I def have the noisy head issue. It started around 3,500-4,000 miles and has gotten louder as now I have 9,000 miles on it. No codes thrown or any loss of power that I can feel though. Jeep dealer said it was "injector noise"...haha. Def not. Loud and right from drivers side head. It's documented twice now at the dealer so I'm just going to forget about it and let it get worse until my warranty starts to get close to the end, then I'm getting things done!

I'm kinda feeling the same way. I know there is a loud ticking sound. I don't know if it is normal or not, but with out any codes thrown I am going to have to assume everything is okay. The dealer tells me it's normal but it has been getting louder since 5k which i am at 9500 now.

I took a vid, if anyone knows better then me, please let me know.

I just listened to mine today (two days after first oil change) and it sounds like the passenger side head is worse than the other. Not real loud but it is noticable. No power loss and still getteng over 20 mpg. 2100 miles on the clock. Looks like when the time comes their going to have to do both.

I hit 3K miles on my Jeep today and everything seems to be just fine, no ticking. I still have a couple thousand miles to go before I can vote, unless, of course, I end up with a ticking problem before then.
