Do all JK 's leak? Sure have a lot of threads with that in topic. I am in market for 2014. Is the leaking fixed or is it a known problem on this model with hard top/freedon top.
Does your Jk Leak?
Hap
Have a 2012, have had the hard top on since I bought it new. It started leaking on the passenger side coming in under the door, I videoed it and took it it to the dealer. I ended up have to go back probably 5 or 6 times. They got it to stop leaking under the door and it started leaking between the two front tops. They finally replaced all of the seals. Started leaking under the drivers side door about 6 months ago. Ended up putting my soft top on about a month ago and the next day it rained sideways. Soft top did not leak. I think I need to replace some of the seals on the two piece hardtop before I put it back on.
2013 JK with premium soft top. NEVER leaked a drop!!
Can't say that about my 84 CJ7 when I bought it new. That one always leaked....down the inside of the windshield, water on the passenger side floor, etc.
It seems that Jeep has come a long way...
'14 JKU Sahara hard top. No leaks ever. Freedom tops are on and off during the week a lot. Hard top & doors are off most weekends. No leaks. Bought it new in August of '13, got 15k miles on it so far.
The majority of the time leaks are a result of the Freedom Tops not be aligned or tightened correctly, or a seal being pinched or worn out. If the rear portion of the top is slightly misaligned it can cause the Freedom Tops to misalign.
My 2012 hard top leaked they replaced the seals 3 times after each time I told them it was a defect in the passenger panel and not the seals, the 4th time they said it was the panel and not the seals to which I replied " do ya think". Then they relaced the panel..no leaks now in over 1.5 years.
I may be wrong, but I think some of the leaks come from people not seating the Freedom tops correctly on the hard tops and not operating the fold down top properly on soft tops. You can bend bows doing it wrong.
The Mopar Brand channel on Youtube is helpful on correct operation of tops.
I have a '14, and while the soft top itself does not leak, I had pretty bad leaks at the header seal.
Those are solved, but I still have leaks where the door seal meets the frame and windshield mucket seal.
Most of the leaks I think you'll find with the newer models have to do with the header seal and door seals. The Chrysler engineering of these seals is still just awful. And what's worse, the seals are a huge step backwards in design from the TJ.
13 jku premium soft top, 20k mile, leaking both sides on front doors evey rime it rains. Goes in for warranty service tuesday. Anyhing specific i should say?
Not one drop in my 2012 with the OEM soft top. Swapped out to a Trektop NX a couple months ago and still bone dry. Top and doors are off and on all the time and no issues.
My 2014 JKU Rubi hardtop leaks on the passenger side door seal anytime it rains. Looks like the problem is the header seal and the the windshield mucket seal.
Have had my 12 since new never a leak in soft top until a couple of weeks ago it rained more on the inside than the outside. pass side at the top forward corner leaked like a gully washer I only had 12 days left on 3yr 36000 warranty took it to my dealer and they had to replace header panel and the whole door gasket No leaks since knock on wood ???
