Powder coating stock rims

Does anyone know if it is possible to powder coat (black) stock alloy rims of my 2013 JKUS? If yes, how reliable would the coat be in terms of peeling off, scratching off? Would the black color stick on the rim or would it chip off once I hit even a small rock?

Are you set on keeping the current design? If not, some models came from the factory with black rims (Arctic and COD come to mind). Maybe you could find some of those used from someone that changed out their rims.

Yes powder coating is possible. You would have to remove the tires and balance weights and have the rims thoroughly cleaned. Powder coating is much more durable than regular spray on paint. I have no idea how expensive it is.

If you paint them yourself (several threads here about others doing that) you can leave the tires on and if they paint gets scratched you can always touch it up very cheaply and simply yourself.

Oh yeah, and then there's always plasti dip. Cheap, diy, scratches easily but an easy fix. If you're regularly off road, I wouldn't recommend it though.

Yeah you can powdercoat them. Powder is much tougher than wet spray. Thing is it isn't as cheap as it used to be. Most places around me want $80 to $100 per wheel. For the money you can buy new aftermarket wheels with better bs for bigger tires. Have a look at discounttiredirect.com

I had my 17" Wheels Black powder coated on my 06 3500 Ram, back in 07 and so far they have held up very well. they costed me $100 each, They also clean up faster and the brake dust washes off easy without any pitting of the wheels. So far I am glad I did them

Look into having them electrostaticly painted. It looks as good as powdercoating and I'm sure is much cheaper. I just talked to a guy who was doing equipment at the gym i go to. He said the paint particles adhere way better due to the electrostsic charge and also dries smoother and harder than regular paint.
