Power Shutdown while Driving – Help!

As I was making my morning commute I headed to the highway doing 30 – 35 when my Jeep lost power for about a second and then came back to life. When it lost power all my dash gages lit up as it does when you turn the ignition key before it starts. When it came back to life the gas gage stayed on “E” and the low fuel light came on. I had half a tank so I knew this was wrong. I pull over turned off the Jeep and started it back up and it worked fine. Even the gas gage went back up to a half of tank.

Any ideas what could have gone wrong and how do I fix?

check your grounds from your engine to the frame. also check the connections on the altenator. if they become loose it is possible. but it is odd that it happened only once. also its would be hard to tell exactly what the issue is without a code. you could scan the ECU and find a code in there that doesnt cause a CEL.

you could. If it was an error the ECM could code. The issue is that you lost power, and without power the ECU doesnt work. But the Extent of power loss is another thing. Did the engine continue to run during this? if so the ECM may have recoreded something. The other Issue it could be is the ECM itself had a software/firmware crash. Never heard of it happening but it is possible.
