Power window problem

Has anyone out there had issues with their power windows? My window will not go up and I thought the glass was broke. I had a glass guy come out to replace it and the window turned out to be fine, but he says I have a bad regulator and maybe a motor. I can hear it try to crank up, but nothing happens.. just a grinding noise. The dealership wants $350 - $450 to fix. My questions is, does anyone know where I can get the parts for this and is it hard to install? I tried every parts store and salvage yard I know and have had no luck. The dealer wants $300 for the part alone. Please help....

If you can hear the motor turning you probably just need the regulator. If it is cable driven this is probably a pattern failure and Dorman probably makes an aftermarket version you can get at O'Reilly's. Most aren't hard to change, just be patient and take your time. The worst part about it will be that it may be riveted in.

I have seen companies that can replace it. Kinda like the mobile glass places, same idea but they do regulators. Its really not too difficult of a repair if you can do things like that.

As far as the part goes, try eBay and try Rockauto.com. I have had some luck with both in the past.
