prengancy and jeeps

we bought the jeep back in February because we thought we were done having kids. but decided last month we wanted a baby so just like that; WE ARE EXPECTING OUR SECOND CHILD !!!!! well the jeep is a standard and the wifes DD, has anyone been through this? here are my options..... any other suggestions are welcome.

1) sell the jeep to break even with what we owe on it and buy a different car paid for in cash (maybe like a camry or accord 8k$) and get a jeep again later in life. with a new baby it would be nice not having the note on the jeep.

2) in a few months; let my wife drive my truck (2012 silverado crew cab) for how even long its necessary and i keep the jeep, meybe even keep that trade forever

our jeep is a perfect mall crawler that has never seen mud or trails, its an 2007 with 62k miles, we owe about 21k on it, do yall think i can at least get that much? heres a pic

Not sure why your wife couldn't drive the Jeep while pregnant... am I missing something?

My wife is 7 months pregnant and does not have a problem driving our jeep. This will be our third child. The jeep stays. I just finished building a roof rack for one of the kids to sit in.

I'm with sucker punch, must be missing something.

Similar situation here. We had our first child, then twins. I traded in my car for my new love... I mean my Jeep so I could haul everyone if I needed to. 2 months after we bought the Jeep we found out we were expecting our fourth child. With two kids you will be fine. I have three full blown car seats in the back. Sure the manual tranny and manual windows aren't super convenient but we have a minivan for our other vehicle. I love the Jeep and all 4 kids (and even my mod unfriendly wife) and not in that order and I plan to keep them all for a long time

Congrats in the new addition and good luck with whatever path you pick!

We went from a tj to a JKU because we were expecting a second child. It is a perfect family vehicle with enough room for everyone and still a jeep!
My kids now love it when we take the top and doors off.
Keep the 4door, you will be fine.

if it was me, unless i needed the truck for work id drive the jeep everyday. my jeep has a 3" lift and my wife hated getting in it while she was pregnant but she is 5' even. even though she complained about getting in iy she loved taking it around with the top down

18 years ago when I was pregnant with child #2, we sold our 1987 red corvette that we autocrossed to purchase a used volvo station wagon. The salesman told us we were crazy to get rid of the corvette & I still miss that car. It was 17 years, several 4 door sedans and a mini van before we purchased another "fun" vehicle. That was way too long to wait!!!!!

We sold our 2005 4WD crew cab silverado to buy a 2012 jeep rubicon unlimited. With a crew cab silverado, your wife will have plenty of room to carry two kids and all of the accompanying gear. When the kids grow up to be 6 footers there will still be enough space for them in the back seat.

I suggest swapping vehicles with your wife and then wait until after baby #2 has arrived and you know what the new family routine is to decide whether to sell the jeep.

We have had some great family trips with our sons taking them off road, camping and exploring remote locations that we could not have gotten to without a jeep.

If you do decide to sell, a soft top will fetch a higher price in the spring and summer when folks want to shake winter's cold memories from their bones.

Enjoy the new baby -- kids grow up too fast!

Keep the Jeep! It can forever be modified to fit your needs and your families needs. It is safe and can handle all the gear. I have a pickup too and if I need to get rid of the pickup I would get an ATV trailer to pull behind the Jeep to make up the difference. Not quite the same but could get you by.

I can only wish I had my Jeep when my kids were little to enjoy it all with them (they are all grown up now). I regret that I now just show them the pictures.

Never get rid of the JEEP!

The wife and I and our 3 kids go everywhere in our 2012 JKU. Not sure any of us understand the OP's question? It is as safe as anything to drive while pregnant and it will hold 4 of you after baby is born.

I am not sure what issue you are attempting to solve. You mentioned that it was a manual, is that it? My wife drove our lifted unlimited up to an including the same day that she went into labor (Monday!). She won't be driving it for a bit while she heels up, but then it will be hard to keep her out of it again (we fight over the jeep a little). I guess I don't understand why she could drive the pickup and not drive the jeep? Worst case I guess I would just switch. Also, if you have been a Jeep and truck family for awhile now, I would take a hard second thought about a car like a camry. Wait until you try to get in and out of something lowered like that, it is a pain! I doubt a pregnant woman really wants to try to get in and out of something low like that. The only appealing thing to me about a car anymore would be for great gas mileage, or the opposite, for speed.

Anyway, good luck on whatever you choose and congratulations!

Sounds like the OP is looking for a reason to unload the Jeep? So many of my friends get rid of/stop their hobbies when they have kids. Which is why we are not.

My dog and my jeep are my kids.

I bought a 2 door with a year old and 1 on the way because we also have a nitro that is our "family" vehicle but we take mine a lot....

Little harder with a 2.5" lift and 33's but she loves the wind in her face and lookin out the soft top

My wife is 8 months pregnant and curses the lift while she tries to hike herself up into it, but loves the jeep .

JKUR can really go far

I have yet to find a trail that my JKUR can't go but only a JKR can go. I know there are obstacles that require the shorter wheel base but not many. I am running on 35 inch tires with a 3.5 inch lift but the Unlimited is still a really Great Jeep. You will not be sorry being in the unlimited and your family will love it too. Use it and love it!

I have two kids and they ALWAYS want to take the jeep (2 door) over any other vehicle we have.
