Payment should never be part of negotiations.

You my want to get preapproved by credit union or bank.

Dealers talk about payments to rip you off. Negotiate as if you had cash in your pocket.

Bad Deal

You should be able to get about $3k off the price marked on the window. With you giving $3k down, they are charging you 5% interest and you are paying sticker. You should be able to get a better interest rate than that unless your credit score is bad. Get pre-approved (credit union, bank, Costco). Then nogotiate the price only. Don't even talk about a trade-in. Once the price is where you want it, start nogotiating for your trade-in. Know the trade-in value of your vehicle. Go to KBB. The dealer will give you low blue book.

2013 Sahara

I have a 2013 Sahara fully loaded and paid just under 35,000 for it. I didn't try much negotiating as it was the last of its kind in North America, but I bet you could get it for much less than that. That seems way high with the 14s coming out as well

Don't haggle with a salesman. Go through a buying service like SamsClub, Costco, USAA, Allstate Motor Club, etc, etc.
