Price to Modify Stock Hardtop

I really like the Wild Boar Fastback Hardtop but the price seems too high to justfiy. So I was thinking, what would the cost be to modify the stock hardtop into the fastback style? Seems all that's needed is to cut the 45 degree angle in the back, re-do the fiberglass, and have a glass company put in new rear and side windows.

Do you think its not worth it or cost effective?

Your thoughts....

I think by the time you do all that it would be better just to get the new top, and sell off the old one.

Almost 6K for the T-top version with rear window defrost, washer/wiper, tint, etc.

Cheapest way to get the fastback look is to pick up a Bestop Trektop NX. Don't chop your factory hard top.

You all are right and I guess I knew that but just wanted to hear it. I'll probably just get the bestop soft top and maybe down the line, and if the top comes down in price a bit, get it then.

Just to be clear, I dont have the JKU yet, I'm waiting to see if Winter Chill is going to be released, and will probably order it next month either in WC or Deep Forest Green.....With the factory hard top

Maybe you could get the Bestop version and apply layers of carbon fiber over it to stiffen it up, out behind your garage in case you dropped some on the floor. There's probably a lot of modern materials that would serve if one had the time/money/opportunity to experiment.

Personally I don't care for the look, and care less for the intrusion into otherwise very useable interior space.

To each his own.

I have the trektop nx and like it. The sunrider feature is also nice alternative to a sunroof.

I really have my eye on that trek nx for summer use. How is that top overall? Is it easy to install? Does it leak? Will it work with a hard top or does the whole entire thing (clips, brackets, etc) need to be broken down every time you want to switch tops? IMO it is the nicest soft top out there.

No doubt it has to come off to put back on the hard top. Only the spiderweb or dirty dog shades (which are shades, not tops) can stay on under either the hard or soft tops.

Run title searches for threads on the Trektop--there's been some pretty lengthy reviews.
