I have a couple of quick questions. When pricing out a jeep you are ordering; what is FFP pricing and what is EP pricing? I was quoted 500 over FWP pricing which they said is their cost.
FWP is the same as dealer invoice. FFP is Friends and Family price. EP is Employee Price.
You should also see an HB on the sheet. That's the dealer's hold back. That is money that they get back from Chrysler when they sell that vehicle. So their cost is REALLY FWP-HB=price, and that's without taking into consideration any of the money that they take in from other sales incentives for the dealership from the factory. Then add in the money they make on financing, warranties and accessories.
I'm not even an employee and I was able to negotiate down to EP, plus another $100 off.
There are some buying tips in post 1 of the 2015 waiting room you might want to check out.
Typically people are seeing between 1 and 5% below invoice (FWP). How much you get is really dependent on where you live. In Florida when we bought Mike's jeep, the best we could get is 2.5% below invoice. Here in Texas I was able to get 5% +$100 without even breaking a sweat. Took me about a week to finalize my deal and it only took THAT long because I was waiting for hydro blue to be released.
So the true cost of the jeep that dealer quoted you would be the FWP minus $1200. $500 over FWP is garbage.
Now keep in mind, this is my perspective only. I work new car deals down to the bone, because I can. If you're happy with FWP +$500, that's all that counts. I'm just a cheap !
You should also look into TreadLightly. That will give you a guaranteed 1% below FWP, you just have to buy a $100 membership.
