Problem Updating RHB Radio

Hi All,

I tried to update the software on my RHB 430N radio this morning to 23.04.41 but now the radio is stuck on the Jeep Logo Screen. This is what I did:

-------------------
Downloaded the files posted by another JK owner from his Chrysler 430N Update disc (Part# 68141133AA) from:

http://download123.mediafire.com/v8a...+RHB+Radio.zip

Burned the files to a DVD and inserted it into my radio with the key on and the radio off.

Radio read the disc and then prompted "Update from 20.02.01 to 23.04.41"

Pressed "YES" and radio apparently began the update process.

After about 2 minutes, the radio restarted, and the Jeep / Uconnect screen came up on the screen.

Waited about 30 minutes, but this logo screen never went away and the radio appeared to be doing nothing.
-------------------

I finally tried turning the radio on/off, ejected the disc, and finally even disconnected the battery for an hour. However the radio is now stuck on the logo screen and won't respond to anything besides loading and ejecting the disc. It shows the logo (never turns off) whenever the battery is connected, regardless of whether the key is on or not.

Help - Any ideas?

The only thing I see you didn't mention was step "3. Remove any USB devices from the radio face plate." but I assume you didn't have any connected.

Other than that I don't know, could have been a bad file in the .zip download, I guess.

The total update is supposed to take about 20 mins so you waited plenty long enough. I guess I would go to your dealer and maybe their media center technician knows the proper sequence of hard button presses to completely factory reset the 430N or he should be able to find out. Then he could start over with his own upgrade CD to get you going again.

Good luck.

This is why I'm willing to pay $50-$100 to have the dealer do it, and I do IT work for a living. If they screw it up, I'm not out the $$$ needed to get a new head unit.

That being said, you may want to scrounge on different Chrysler forums and see if anyone has posted the button sequence/codes to perform a hard reset of the HU.

Assuming there is firmware left on the HU to reset...

Resolved RHB 430N Update Problem

I can't believe I didn't find the answer to this somewhere on the net. But here's what fixed this for me:

================================================
The Update Disc has to be created on a CD-R and NOT a DVD-R
================================================

Since the RHB disc drive is a DVD drive and I happened to have a pile of DVD-R's handy, I orignally made an update disc on a DVD-R. And as mentioned before, this worked fine when I first inserted the disc but then froze the radio on the logo screen when it rebooted.

While playing with my "bricked" radio for a while, I noticed that it did sound like it was trying to read the DVD when I took it out and reinserted it. But nothing happened. I recreated the Update Disc on a new DVD-R at the lowest speed, But still nothing happended - radio was still stuck.

So after considering what might have happened and what other options there might be, I decided to find a CD-R and recreate the Update Disc. When I inserted this new CD-R update disc into the radio (with the Jeep Logo showing on the screen and the key turned on) the drive spun up and.... Voila! The update program loaded and continued on through the process like nothing had ever gone wrong. Whew!

My RHB is now successfully updated to 23.04.41 and Travel Link is working.

Thanks for the replies!

Hahaha. I love it when the answer was an easy fix.

Thanks for posting the update and congrats on solving it successfully!

RHB update

I updated my 2011 Rubicon with the 23.04.41 update and everything went well with the update. Took only a few minutes and I verified that it took on the Menu - System Information screen. However, I no longer have voice recognition. Uconnect sees my phone and if I call using the uconnect speaker (the factory installed one) the person on the other end can hear me fine so I'm assuming no hardware problem. But the system is unresponsive to voice commands and after repeating the menu several times, it just goes back to the radio.

Everything else seems to be working; I now have the Sirius Travel Link and the Iphone plays through the aux usb port in the center console and I can control it with the steering wheels switches.

Any quesses as to what might be the problem?

Try disconnecting the vehicle battery for a few minutes and then reconnect it and test it. If that didn't work then:

try pressing the Uconnect phone button and say "set up, reset". This will reset the Uconnect system completely and delete any prior paired devices. You'll need to repair the phone (s).

Btw, guys from RamForumz said the main mistake was I updated directly 20 to 50 version. Correct process looks like updating 20 to 30 and even after that to 50.
