So the result is the first system was replaced when antennae was broken by tech checking a loose connection in the Lockpick harness connected to system. Trust me they were not happy finding it but did replace it. Next system worked for a total of 2 days and then came back on once and then totally went black and sounds like something is spinning even after power off. Only disconnecting the harness stopped it. We also tried taking the fuse out etc and that didn't work either. So the big question is whether I go back to the dealer and see if they will replace the replacement or bite a bigger bullet and go with a new system that has a CAN bus workaround harness. I will be taking the Lockpick out totally and sending it back to manufacture. I bought it thinking it would work on my 2012 Jeep but I've had nothing but headaches. As an aside I called the Sirius folks to check on what will happen with my "free" subscription and of course if it's not the factory system it's cancelled. BUT the kicker is she asked me about my Dodge Ram truck?!? I was under the impression that the new system that they put in for a replacement was for my Jeep. Not sure if it matters or not but perhaps I can see if I can get another replacement that is actually for a jeep.
Now it is Normal to hear the hard drive spinning after you turn power off. It is just like a PC with windows, when you turn your PC off, it goes thru it's shut down process, and just like a PC, if you force the MyGig a Hard Shut down, you could corrupt the Drive. It's also normal for it to power up even while Vehicle is not running. Sometimes when it is updating it's files etc it will act funny, as you described it having a black screen. It doesn't have a Fast processor like our PC's do...lol...
The new Infotainment units that are being added to all models as the New Can Bus Network (PowerNet) is being added with a faster network...
