ProCal Question

I was doing some reading on the ProCal and what changes you can make using it. One change is to turn on/off daytime driving lights. According to the information I saw, you can use the ProCal to turn on either the head/fog/turn signal lights when the switch is turned on. I assume it will also turn them off when the switch is turned off. But, my question is whether or not this option only works for JKs with some other option, like "Daytime Driving Lights"? Mine does not have the "Auto" setting on the light switch stem, so I was curious if this would allow me to setup daytime lights.

Anyone have any experience with this? My Jeep is a 2013 JK Sport.

I turned on the DRL on the turn signals on mine. It's a base sport with no automatic lights. Any time the ignition is on and the parking brake isn't set, the turn signal lights are on, but not as brightly as if I had the parking lights on.

I believe with an auto trans the DRL come on only when you are in gear.

Yep, only in gear. You can check this out by stopping behind someone at a stop light. Place trans in Park and watch your DRLs go out.

If using running lights, check out the way they turn off, then blink as a turn signal.

I have my fog lights set up as my DRL's on my 2013. I know some don't like DRL but I do.

I've been told that using the ProCal to set up fogs for DRL does not turn on the dash lights the way turning on the fogs with the stem switch does. Is the case?

Bummer. I'd buy one immediately for nothing but that function, if it did. Driving in redwood country - going from light to shade to light and back all the time - sunglasses are a must, but then I can't see the dash gauges in the shade. I always turn the fogs on when I drive, mostly just to turn the dash lights on so I can see the gauges.... I'll just have to Keep doing it manually. No biggie....

Thanks for the answer.

I have a 2013 and my fogs turn on anytime it is in drive and my dash lights stay bright as if I had the lights off. If I turn the low beams on and then pull then pull the end of the stem the dash lights dim. So I think it does what you are wanting, that in fact was important to me too.

Did you mean on instead of "off" where I changed your post? If not, I don't quite understand,... zbut, that's OK, I can be a real dense idiot if I half try..

And, you set your DRL to fogs with the AEV ProCal, right?

yes I used the procal to set my fogs as DRL's. I like having some front facing lights and when I manually turned my lights on my dash lights dim (green numbers letters etc) at night they are too bright with no head lights on. Mine are brighter with the lights off and when I would manually turn my headlights on I could barely see my info when it was light out. we may be talking about different lights I am talking about the green led lights on the dash i.e. mpg ave, odometer, tripometer, eco on etc.

Edit: I read your post wrong the first time.... I told you I'm an idiot..... I need to run the dash lights that help light up the Speedo, Tach, etc... I guess we were talking about different lights. Thanks for clearing it up. Back to the drawing board for me....
