Production numbers for 2010 Mountain Edition

I have been searching the internet trying to find the production numbers for the 2010 Mountain Edition. This is the first veichle that I have bought that was a Special Edition.

I live in North Georgia and Jeeps are all around but I have only seen 1 or 2 Mt. Editions on the road. So just for currisity sake I was trying to find out just how Limited the production was.

Any one know where I can get this info? I have been able to find Yearly numbers up through 2007 but even that did not break it down by if it was Sport, Islander, Rio Grand only totals for the Wrangler for the year.

Thanks in advance

you don't see the mountain editions on the road because they aren't selling well. Dealers cannot get them off the dealership. I am in the pricess of buying/modifying my first wrangler and i almost signed the papers for 29500 for a wrangler unlimited s with dual tops upgraded audio and tow hitch, and then looked at the dealerships other inventory and realized they ahd a mountain edition with all the same options in the same color for 27500. Marked down like 5 grand. I asked if they could take of the decals for me because my personal opinion (sorry) is that they are hideous, they said no problem. They aren't allowed to OFFER a potential buyer the mountain and offer to take all the decals etc off...but if the buyer asks for it they can oblige (for anyone looking for a new jeep right now especially with all the summer end clearance events, this is the way to go). The 3 jeep dealers I went to (2 were the same company different locations) they had 30 unlimited's between them. Over half of them were island and mountain editions.

Agreed with above*** I love the color my dad just got a Mango Tango 2 dr and I love it. I started looking at jeeps, switching from the luxury sedan world (big switch) and my dad fell in love with them and grabbed one before I could get my car sold and get mine haha. It actually makes total sense that the dealers can't offer to remove the decalse badging and emblems etc for the customer. Then it takes away any value of the upgraded model. I was happy as can be when I figured it out and asked though because I am still getting my black light covers, black gas cap cover, (I actually like the seats in the mountan edition a lot more if only the compas stitching wasn't there) but again it isn't to bad. I am 50 50 on the gray front grill, but a buddy of mine works at an auto body shop and he said they could get it painted black for me for like 300 dollars max, he said a job like that ehy would pretty much just charge supplies it would only take about an hr and a half for wet send prep and finish.

Thanks guys, we did not begin by going out looking for a Mt edition. We wanted the 4 door in the Mango Tango color with a 6 speed and the dealership could only find one and it was in the Mt edition.

I agree I like the seats we leave the top down a lot and it helps when it rains.

I had seen where it said the Islander was produced in the 100's but did not see anything for the MT.

thanks everyone

I read something awhile back that said mountain editions were supposed to be a 2000 unit production. I stumbled on it one time while searching google. It was on a page that was introducing the edition. Sorry I don't have anything to back it up with, but I'm just pulling from what I remember.

I bought a 2dr Mountain in June, and around here, there is no trouble at all moving JK's off the dealers lots. We have 2 dealers within 50 miles, and they have a very rapid turn over. I think it is about the only thing that they move with any regularity. Mine was on the lot thursday to monday morning, and someone was in there 1 hour after i started the paperwork wanting it. It is kinda nice having one of the few Mountains in the area. I would also like to know how many are actually made.....

The dealer I went to said they had mountains flying off the lot. They had sold 3 earlier in the week before I bought mine. They also said the longest a mountain sat on the lot was a week before it sold.

Same here in New York. The day I bought my mountain edition, 2 other people came in and wanted to test drive the one I bought in the hour before I finalized the paperwork.

Yeah, I didn't mention that in my above post, but the mountains here are not staying long on any lots that I've seen. When the sales guy was working with me, he kept playing the "It'll be gone if you don't do it today" card and told me he'd sell the other 3 mountains on the lot by the weekend. I took it as a BS way to make me pull the trigger, but after more negotiating we got to where I wanted to be and I did pull the trigger. Came back a few days later to get my hitch installed (included in negotiation) and all 3 were gone. I was impressed.

I bought my Mtn. back in July (Mango Tango). Love the Mountain decals -- but orange is my favorite color. I went in to buy a silver rubicon -- the sales rep couldn't locate anything with all the options I wanted, so he was asking me if I was going to take the $30k jeep rock crawling etc. I told him nope, just some typical off road stuff since it would be my daily driver. The sales guy asked if I had checked out the Mtn. Ed., I said yeah its pretty sharp. He said it's $4k cheaper with almost all the same stuff as the Rubicon (minus Roc-Trac 4x4, sway bar disconnect, and 4.10s) They had one on the lot and found one with everything I wanted (except Nav which the installed for me) at another dealer. Long story short -- Mine was the second Mtn. they had on the lot, they were having I big car show at the dealer the day I picked mine up and they had folks wanting to buy mine on the spot! They can't keep them on the lot here (in AL) either.

My dealer had to do a dealer trade with one in Rochester, NY to get the specific Mountain I wanted [2-door deep water blue, auto, hardtop, power windows]. Doing a dealer search through the Jeep website, I only found 15 Mountains total in a 100mi radius of my zip code. The day I picked mine up from the dealer, they just received a new Rescue Green Unlimited Mountain. And I am the only Mountain owner in my area that I know of.

I've also seen only one Islander, but it was sold before I was able to look at it [saw it on the dealer website first.]

Dont mean to shoot you down, but what you're saying is not completely accurate. My cousin works for Chrysler, so I have some info not readily available to the standard Jeep salesman. They may not have sold well, but that isn't the reason you don't see many on the road. The Mountains and Islanders were a special build, that were not intended for high volume. I have a two door in orange with all the options, and wondered what the numbers were myself. (I've seen 3 two door Mtn's in orange). My cousin said he'd be surprised if they produced more than 2,000 Mountains (both two and four door combined), so the lack of them on the road is not due to the sales trends, but the actual build volume.

There was supposedly two production runs of the Islander. They sold better than expected, so Chrysler agreed to produce more. I've read that Puerto Rico ordered a vast majority of their JK stock in Islanders....odd fact, but supposedly true. I heard the production numbers were in/around 2000 as well.

Yep, my sister's boyfriend's brother (so it's GOT to be accurate!!) works at a big Jeep dealership in NY, and I spoke with him a lot while buying my Mountain here in NC. He heard there were 2000 made, divided up between two/four door and the four colors. I've only ever seen two others on the road in my area.

The "not selling well" thing, I suspect, is just nonsense. The orange decals were indeed hit or miss with folks, but they could be easily removed while people were clamoring for the wheels, hood decal, and interior changes (like all black seats). The NY dealership didn't end up requesting any from Chrysler, but they retrospectively wished they had--they sold immediately off other lots in the area. The one I saw at a dealership in Durham sold less than a week after arrival. In August 2010, I had to get mine shipped from Kentucky to NC simply because their were so few left with the specs I was looking for. At the time, there was another in Montana that fit my profile.

I wonder if jknit's experience was more about a single dealership over-ordering the edition or perhaps Chrysler over-estimating the demand in that particular area.

I live in the Austin area and have only seen two others between here and San Antonio. One black hardtop, one green soft top. I have the black unlimited with a soft top and love it. Kept the wheels when I lifted and put on 35s and flat fenders

LOL....I love Tiki Bob! I wanted an Islander and there was a black one about 5 miles down the road from me but dealer wouldn't budge from the sticker price, so I went somewhere else bought my sport instead. Found a set of Islander seat covers and installed them on a Saturday. I kinda feel like a poser, but they look awesome

Nonsense. I've got a 2010 mountain and your post bums me out.

If you want, I can itemize the aftermarket stuff you'd need to "make" your 2011 a mountain clone. Some seat covers, a few items from pixel decals, some wheels, and a few Mopar parts (or something similar) would get you darn close.

I love your color, that was my 2 choices, I had a dealer find it for me- or order me a new 2011.. I went with the Dark Cherry Red.. I had to have Black interior ( 2011's and mountain )... and the tires you have are nice too...

When I went shopping for my Mountain several dealers told me that the Mountain was a 2010 only model production and 2,000 vehicles were produced. I had my dealer remove the stick when they deliver the jeep and had pixel decal create a custom decal for $20.00.
