Proper jeep wave

<<<<Says Newb under my profile name so I can get away with this question...Obviously NEW Jeep owner...DO NOT want to be classified as the "Soccer Mom" who does not wave! I am concerned with the WAVE! I have waved at a few jeeps locally...sometimes I get a wave back, sometimes I get a glare...like WTH are you doing?! Is the Jeep Wave like a military solute? Is there a proper way to do it? Do you do it high? Do you do it low? Is the peace sign acceptable? Just need feedback! Thanks!

I show all five fingers, like a high five, with the hand that is on the wheel. take0 zero effort.
I'm in MA.. and get waves from almost all jeeps.

It must not feel very nice when you put yourself out there, wave and others don't wave back. Sometimes people don't and won't - nothing to worry about.

It's not that big of a deal, no need to become self conscious. There's been many a time where I've been given the one finger salute.

Not worried that I "put myself out there" Hell I am driving a JEEP! People are gonna look, I just needed clarification! Haha! I am thinking I come up with my own wave and stick to it! Some will wave and some miserable people will never wave!

Since we are on a wave thread - that isn't locked yet (and it will be, likely!)... I wave all the time to Wrangers/CJs - and get a return wave less than 1/2 the time. It seems like it goes in waves (pun intended) - i.e. one day I'll get 90% return waves... and then next 10%.

Are you saying you want to give others the one finger salute instead of the wave? lol not only will they not wave but they may even road rage with you. The authorities won't think anything of it because seeing two jeeps together, they'll assume you guys are going on a trail and just goofing off.

I usually do a quick peace sign. Half the time the other Jeepers view is probably blocked by my mirror. Other times a quick head nod works. I generally pay little attention to if they sign or nod back.

Lift my hand

I just lift my hand up from the steering wheel. I have noticed that just about everyone that doesn't have a modified Jeep (lifted with bigger tires) doesn't wave. Also, I have to say this, but most women who drive Jeeps don't wave either. Just about all modified male drivers tend to wave. This is my perception and I live in Northern Arizona where there tends to be quite a lot of Jeepers.

I didn't realize I was breaking a rule by posting about a wave Ooops! Guess I should read the rules, I skipped that part! Thanks for your input and your risk of posting on a thread that may be locked! I had no where else to turn for this question!

There are no rules to waving. Just wave and be part of the jeep community!

Jeep people are rebels breaking the rules anyway.

The only problem for me is - when my wife or kid are in the Jeep with me, and I don't get a return wave... they give me a hard time... oh well, the burdens we bear.

Maybe in your world friend, but a wave is a wave. If you want to get technical on how to wave, may I suggest a new hobby.

Oh, I'm happy with any wave I get back... even the 'nod of the head' is fine with me.

When I look at the rules of the Jeep wave, I take it as very much tongue in cheek - maybe it's not intended that way... but that's how I take it anyway.

And my bank account would certainly agree I should have a different hobby.

My point was simply this: I wave. Period. I don't do any form of weird lingo while waving, I just wave. For anyone who says I'm doing it wrong, save it. This topic has been discussed, just throwing in my 2 cents. Have a good weekend!
