It's illegal to ride doorless in PA?

So, are motorcycles banned there too?

Hopefully it's not illegal in jersey. I've driven by many many cops none have pulled me over. I did relocate my mirrors though. With that being said, has anyone else found the passenger side mirror useless with these? http://www.quadratec.com/products/13125_1020.htm

I recall seing a thread that listed the laws for all the states. Most just mention requiring 1 mirror unobstructed that can view 200 feet to the rear.

Philly 'burbs here. Never got so much as a second glance. My Jeep isn't my daily driver, so unless its going to rain 3 days in a row, the top and doors are off from April till November.

I drive topless and doorless every chance I get and only once have I seen a cop even take a long look. I do need to get a set of mirrors for when the doors are off my JKU.

PA does not allow you to drive with the doors off but I've never had an issue. Put some mirrors on just to be safe, and no one will bother you. Also it's illegal to drive around with a stinger, even hitches and fairleads for the winch are illegal. just sayin...PA blowssss

But you can ride a motorcycle without a helmet.

That makes as much sense as the fireworks law

I didn't see anything about doors in Illinois...AND...it looks like I don't even need side mirrors.

625*ILCS*5/*Illinois Vehicle Code.

(625 ILCS 5/12-502) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-502)
Sec. 12-502. Mirrors. Every motor vehicle, operated singly or when towing another vehicle, shall be equipped with a mirror so located as to reflect to the driver a view of the highway for a distance of at least 200 feet to the rear of such motor vehicle.

Anyone have that link with all states listed? I literally pulled into my neighborhood 10 mins ago, a cop had someone else pulled over, but I got a long hard stare (probably had Jeep envy) but I do want to follow the law, here in Texas.

EDIT: Just found this http://ecomodder.com/wiki/index.php/..._by_State_(U.S.)

Lived in TX for 4 years and I have never had a problem with the doors off. I dont even have the front license plate installed. I have a bracket but it gets in the way of the winch.

Quote:
(f) Doors. A vehicle specified under this subchapter shall be equipped with doors of a type used as original equipment. The doors shall open and close securely unless the vehicle has been manufactured or modified to the extent that there is no roof or side. Tailgates, except on vehicles where the tailgate gives access to the passenger compartment, may be replaced with wood planking, nets or other material that will prevent loss of load. Tailgates may be removed when optional equipment, for example a truck camper, is added.
My reading comprehension is off a little this morning (to much rally on the river last night) Is the highlighted part saying that as long as there is not a roof or side, than no doors are required??

There's no such thing anymore. Some are just a little less restrictive than others, but they'll probably get around to tightening up sooner or later. There's too much money to be made by ticketing minor violations of the idiot laws.

That's good to know. This is my first Jeep so I was unsure. I'm more worried about the mirror requirement. I ordered a set on Friday. (...just to impatient to put the doors back on ) Suppose I better wait until my mirrors show up before I take her too far from home.

EDIT: Based upon this http://ecomodder.com/wiki/index.php/...e_(U.S.)#Texas

the very last line of the law - is one exterior mirror required ???

NOTE: An inside mirror would meet all the above requirements. If the vehicle is equipped with more than one mirror, only one, either inside or outside, needs to meet all requirements.

I was wondering the same thing myself while I reading it.
