Pulled the trigger on a Starwood Jeep

Well pulled the trigger on a Starwood Jeep for the wife. Its what she wanted so you know how it goes, Happy wife is a Happy life. As far as I am concerned, not a bad deal. 4" Lift, Kevlar Paint, Nav, Leather heated seats, AEV Hood, 18" Fuel Deep Throttle Wheels, 35' Nitto trail grappler, shipped to NY for under $50k. Its turn key, done and here now. I considered a built Sahara with Rubicon Express parts but price was almost $55k WITHOUT the Kevlar Paint. I check 3 places that did the Linex paint ad that was over $6k.
Jeep should be here by Monday and will post my findings on how the jeep is. Also a used 2012 Starwood with 14k miles sold privately on ebay yesterday at $46k. Not bad resale.

PS. Paint has lifetime warranty. They will even pay shipping.

I just checked out their website, awesome looking conversions. they seem to favor 4" pro-comp lifts and 35's (mostly nitto)

all in all, not a bad value imho on the jeeps. If I would have seen this site, I may have purchased their than buying a stock 2013 JKUR 10a. Now I get to do all the mods myself.

I have 4 vehicles and the last thing I wanted to do start working on this one. Especially when its the wifey's. I had them swap to different larger wheels/tires, add heated seats and swap the fenders(she like the pocket fenders) and add the AEV Hood. The paint on the hood and fenders wont be complete to last next week so they are shipping the fenders and hood to install locally.

You OP are a very lucky person. Enjoy it. I know if I had the $$$ I would've bought mine pre-modded from a reputable dealer. I *hate* laying in a hot garage doing things that I won't realize are incorrect until I've already bolted everything up!

Please post pics.. I'm really curious to see this thing in 'real life', not in their shiny showroom pics.

I'm curious about the gear ratio they selected for that setup and any modifications to the factory axles (Cs or gussets).

Sounds like a nice-looking Jeep for sure.

I used a pic of a black one like that from them as my screen saver on everything fot the longest time. Then I bought my baby and I'm building her, so shes on everything now. I love the Kevlar paint job, but I'm in GA with red ga clay. I was told it stains it really bad. So that's out. Booo.

They build some good lookin Jeeps. Congrats!

Wonder if you get a fully modded jeep, do you still get a case of the mod bug?

Nice Jeep and congrats.
Wow those prices are nutz. Might be time to open a shop and start building. I cant believe people really pay these prices for some bolt on mods and paint.

I love when people say this. Unless someone is paying for something with money from a lotto ticket luck usually has nothing to do with buying something like this.

I meant he's lucky to have a life where he's in a position to pay for a crazy jeep. Remember, most people can do most other people's jobs if given the chance in education and then given the correct job afterwards. However, there simply aren't enough high paying jobs to go around for every single capable person. So, people who make very good money should consider themselves 'lucky' as millions of others could do the same job as them - or even better - if ever given the chance.

That's all.

Most high paying jobs are high paying because the skills, talents and training you need are extremely uncommon, difficult, and expensive to obtain, so businesses have to fork over the cash to obtain talent to get employees who meet the requirements.

Saying "most people can do most other people's jobs if given the chance in education and then given the correct job afterwards" is like saying most people could be starting NFL quarterback's if given a chance in football camp and given a roster spot afterwards. The labor market is not unlike the NFL, the best talent and hardest workers bubble to the top and commands more money, and the more average talent or less motivated workers don't. Luck has little to do with it.

P.S., to the OP, nice Jeep. I feel ya on paying a small premium to get it all done up front so you don't have to mess with it. Time is money, and if building it is not your thing, let someone else do it and you enjoy the results!

I can't be a good quarter back, movie director, hedge fund operator, or plastic surgeon even if given the opportunity and education for free. I'm cool with that.

Finally someone bought one of these

This thread is a super buzz kill. WHERE ARE THE PICTURES?

These custom jeeps are very interesting.

also, I suggest, you cover a small section of the paint with a sticker or something, so you can prove in the future that its fading if it fades.

that Kevlar paint is like bedliner as I understand it, and bedliner will fade. Also, they swear it wont, but who's had one for 5 years that can tell us?

(no one)

maybe a mount for a light on the windshield, that will cover a small section, and you can take it off in a few years, and see.

My issue with this when I was researching it is, if there is an issue with the paint, what do they do? spray over it? Its thicker than regular paint. chip it off? I don't see a good answer to issues in the future with it.

finally, what happens if you get in an accident. do you have to send it back to be sprayed?

Don't get me wrong the concept is cool, but untested, so of course there are going to be question marks about it.

congrats! You get to be the wranglerforum guinea pig for this! Keep us updated, the starwood stuff has been a mystery for a long time.

very interesting

I don't see the value for the money. I would rather build myself.
