I thought back and forth about it and after having a new born in the house it seems like the 2 door is gonna have to go. It is on ebay. It's a sad day for me :(

That is gorgeous, and I don't even like 'blue' Jeeps.....

Trade it for a 4-door.

Having owned a Carrera 4 and a Cayenne you are going to miss the Jeep. There is only so much safe fun you can have on smooth pavement, specially with a new born.

When the going get rough and tough the speed machines get left in the mud and dust. :)

I got rid of my 2 door jeep back in the eighties because of car seats and strollers. It was brand new in 1986. Sold it in 1989 after the second car seat was added. I told my wife I will get another Jeep. 23 years later I got my Jeep back. :). So never say never.

I am in the other camp. While I LOVE 911s, they no longer fit my lifestyle of exploring, hiking, etc. While I would enjoy driving it, I would be so limited in what I could do with it and where I could take it. Just give me a high clearance 4x4. Still, I am jealous. And a "beater" for $10k-$15K...that is funny! My definition of a beater ends at $5K, at the high end. :)

At the end of the day it's not really what I can afford, it's what makes the most sense. Unfortunately my Wrangler has to be parked on the street, and I use it pretty much only to commute back and forth to work in Manhattan. I see it as having about $25-28k just sitting there, so buying something for $10-15k and not having a payment makes a bit more sense when it comes to the monetary aspect. I also have a 3 month old baby in the house now so having two 2 doors doesn't really make that much sense either.

I think you may be rationalizing to keep the Pcar.

If you compare the Total Cost of Ownership of a 911 including service and parts, simple things like tires, insurance and functionality assuming that you drive exactly the same it to the dames places you drive the JK, the 911 we be more expensive.

This is not to mention that the back seat in a 911 makes the one in the JK look and feel like a couch in the living room when it comes to child seat, diaper bag, stuffed animals, beach balls, etc. :D

Do what ever makes you happy but please don't make it sound like the only sensible and practical solution is to keep the Pcar and sell the Jeep.

Kids can really dictate a car buying decision. The 2dr. seats kind of suck when you try to move the front ones back for access to rear. Maybe I haven't done it enough, but they seem to work different every time I try doing it. Sometimes they'll tip forward other times not. I have to congratulate you for even attempting to own a JK in Manhattan. I've never been to New York City, but just the pictures they show of the traffic there is incredible. I would like to visit there once in my life just to see what it's like. After the Rocky Mts. of course....

Yes, I'd rather drive a jeep, but if you give me an audi, or a mercedes am I going to drive it? Heck yes, I would! My top "mom car" choice would be an Audi Q7. Not because i don't like the jeep, but because the space in an SUV is better than in a jeep and I refuse to drive a minivan. Trust me though, I will still keep my Jeep. I absolutely love stand I will NEVER get rid of it.
