Hi all,New to the forum.Ditto with everything anyone says about being new to the site, enjoy it very much.I have a question to you all.I just bought a new trektop nx(awaiting delivery) paid $579.95 price much from 4wheel online.
My question though,is... I tried to get free shipping.but was told that i would have to pay full price of $649.00 in order for it to be shipped for free,(as well as free under seat box which they have as a promotion)Has anyone come across this situation? One of the major reasons i enrolled in this forum was to take advantage of savings and free shipping(and also for exchanging ideas and tips)Did i miss something here?should I have spoken to someone in particular at qtec?I understand their customer service is respectable, but i could've bought this top from virtually any vendor and still have gotten customer service from bestop if needed.
So in closing am I wrong for feeling like I was duped?or did I just simply misunderstand their shipping policy towards forum members.Thanx all, in advance.

Price match

Quadratec does exactly what they advertise and price match the DELIVERED price. Everyone that pricematches does this not in addition too. They want your business but it still costs money to get it to your door and they are in business to keep their doors open. My .02 from purchase history.

Yes, a lot of times companies offer you an extremely low price, just to put a high shipping price on the end. I noticed this when I bought my goodyear duratrac 33x12.50s from discount tire. I tried really hard to get a lower price for them to match, and shipping/mounting/balancing would always make it not such a great deal. I told the guys at discount tire that, they just kind of smiled.

Of course, shipping on 400lb of tires is kind of expensive...

Why don't people understand that unless a company is an actually shipping company, they don't set shipping costs? It's a standard third party charge (may vary among DHL, UPS, FedEx) and there's nothing they can do about it.

It has to come from somewhere and either they pay for it or you pay for it. Large and well mannered companies usually offer free standard shipping either on purchases altogether or purchases that qualify on or over a certain price point

But this is subject to their discretion.

Its a standard shipping cost but they get a very good rate compared to what an individual would pay, because of the amount of business they do. I think Quadratec charged me a reduced/free shipping cost and the standard website price for the items themselves (at least thats how I remember them, was months ago).

Oh absolutely Dirk! Even though shipping costs may be high through the store, they'd be higher if an individual shipped them himself.

I haven't had anything shipped from Quadratec that was 'oversize'. If you read the "free shipping" fine print, oversize items still have surcharges.

I don't know much about the Trektop, but if it's as big as the factory soft top... it's oversize and would probably cost big cash to ship.

I live in Canada and get all my Jeep parts shipped to Detroit (for free) and I go pick them up. Saves me a small fortune by not having things shipped here.

When I ordered a winch from Quadratech for Christmas, they did give me free shipping through the forum. However I did have to pay the fee for an over weight shipment. So it wasn't completely free shipping, but it was reduced because of wranglerforum.

Not sure if that's the difference, since a top is probably over size and over weight, but I'd bet that had a lot to do with it.

Quadratec was great to deal with though. I had ordered a winch from another company (who shall remain nameless) that screwed around for over a week and never had it in stock in the first place. Quadratec shipped same day, on December 18th and I received it on the 20th. Also ordered a ProCal and that was shipped totally free and also arrived in two days.

I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again!

Hi all, thanx for the replies. As I'm reading some of the posts A few things come to mind. It's quite easy to to fall into a trap and think one is being reprimanded as a child.
I understand companies have to make money;I'm not out to get free lunch,I did pay for my product. But lest not forget when a company advertises a product for 649 and you vary wildly from 579 all the way to 800 plus that somewhere in that mix is quite a huge profit margin, that if a shopper doesn't do any research shame on them.NO?
Now what i didn't mention was i spoke with 3 different reps 1st one shipping was free but i was not yet a member 2nd absolutely no free shipping with price match and i was told that previous rep was not aware of protocol( did't wanna deal with him)thanx good day.3rd guy no free shipping on price match.but was told of free promotion and was a pleasant to deal with so in the end,Is there free shipping? yes. is it a little misleading?I would have to say yes.Thanx folks.

Is it really worth the stress? You could've ordered it and moved on with your life. Quit draining your energy and causing yourself unseen long-term health problems by dwelling on something so ridiculous. Ok, maybe you lose $50. Were you planning on taking that $50 with you when you die?

I don't blame the OP for looking for the best deal... it's their money. I try to get the lowest price as well, to a point. It seems to me that the price for this particular item was about the same when shipping was put it, therefore the confusion.

If it's something you need, buy it and have fun with it. I've never done price matching yet and haven't come across this... maybe down the road I will.

Why don't you offer to send him nthe $50 and then you will feel better in your theoretical world and he will nto be out $50..... maybe $50 is not a big deal to you but to others it is.

There you go ^. Shop around... there is no loyalty when it comes to pricing. Get the lowest price and buy it. This forum is fantastic for finding you the best deal on a new/used Wrangler or any accessories you are looking for. Just ask, someone will tell you.

Quadratec=BassPro aka great place to look around and see what all is out there in one spot but rarely order from due to prices being better elsewhere. unless you need something sooner rather than later as they usually have things in stock and if they don't you'll find out in a few days that it was backordered....

Yep, you definitely have to shop around when purchasing something this expensive! I just did a google search, checked out numerous websites, called a few to see if they would match JeepTopDepot & no one would....closest I got was $600 with free shipping (I think that may have even been through Quadratec). But since no one would match it, I went with JTD & got it in about 5 days. JTD is actually part of 4WD.com, but they only do tops & accessories for tops.

Hey everyone,

Our free shipping for WranglerForum members will give you the best delivered price in most cases. There are occasions where a competitor may have a lower item price but the addition of S&H will likely make their delivered price higher.

At Quadratec, we adhere to manufacturer MAP (minimum advertised pricing) policies to ensure all products are covered by manufacturer warranty and eligible rebates.

If you find a competitor with a lower delivered price, just PM me

I got message from Quadratec, and it told me that there might be a surcharge. No big deal. Ordered something today, but shipped 2 day...needed it by early next week. Didn't think they would pay for expedited shipping....It's all good. They've been good to work with that I've ordered from them.
