Quadratec Moab Wheels

I asked in another thread but hoping I get more answers posting here.

Does anyone have any experience with these wheels? I'm looking at the black ones specifically. Are they glossy, flat, textured? Any info is appreciated.

I wouldn't pay that money for those... they are just stock Sport S rims painted black. You can pick up a set of 4 Sport S rims on craigslist for like 2-400 all in. All you need is a few cans of black paint or plastidip to match the black ones you're looking at. Better to go aftermarket if you're looking for a different look. Hell, I have a full set of brand new spare rims and tires in my garage with TPMS that I picked up for 300.

Some special editions came with those rims:

I like these because they are plain and stock looking but offer better backspacing than the stock Moabs. Plus they're 100$ cheaper than the AEV Savagres that I'm also considering.

Those are not Moab wheels, at least not the ones that came on mine or any other Moab jeep I've seen.

They also differ from the stock Sport S wheels by being wider, 8.5 vs 7.5. This allows for the mounting of wider and in some cases taller tires.

That wheel design was dubbed the "Moab" wheel when they were putting them exclusively on TJ Rubicons. Has nothing to do with your Moab edition JK.

That is not accurate. They are a custom wheel with much different specifications than the factory wheel.

The factory wheel is 7.5 wide and the Qtec MOAB is 8.5 wide.

The factory wheel has 6.25 backspacing and the Qtec MOAB is 4.7 backspaced.

Both of those specs make it a fantastic wheel for putting 33 or 35x12.5's on your Jeep while maintaining a factory wheel look. Although, much more aggressive.

I was in the same boat as you. I love the stock look but 130 was a bit steep. let me know if you end up doing it. it seems cool. I heard they are back ordered

The black version of these are satin black. Not gloss, not flat, but in between:

As a heads up these are IN STOCK in all finishes (silver, black, machined and gray) in both our Chambersburg, PA warehouse and Sparks, NV warehouse. If you order before 3:30pm Eastern today they will ship today as well!

For comparison sake the factory Mopar MOAB wheel's (MOAB style, not for the MOAB edition JK) range in price from $294.99 to $374.99:

Thanks for the info, it helps with the decision. Now to convince the gf new wheels and tires are a need.

No problem, Brandon! Good luck! I'd just take the Jeep wheeling, scrape the stock ones up pretty good, then say "Look, I need new wheels!"

Have a great weekend all! Keep the "shiny" side up.

BTW, I saw these in person today at the PA Jeeps show setup, they are very sharp looking. Had I seen them prior to my Pintler purchase it would have been a much harder choice.

The Moab didn't come with those wheels.
That picture was on Jeep.com less then a day before it was updated.
The TJ Rubicon wheels were called Moabs, that carried over to the similar style on the JK's.

Just my opinion, but after spending weeks looking at dark gray 17" wheels with proper back spacing for 35's, these are the cheapest out there by far...

Have you looked at the price of other alloy wheels? 130 is pretty cheap... AEVs are 225.

These are the mamba MR1 wheels, they are exactly the same as the quadratec wheels, back spacing and all, only difference is the center cap. I like the wheels but i don't love them, black makes all the rock rash stick out..

I was thinking of getting the machined in the Moab but not sure how it will look from the road salt during the winter.
